When I boot up my Dell Vostro 1000 laptop it flashes a code to the screen for about 203 seconds that says: RS485/M BR#23931. What does this code mean? The closes I've gotten to understanding this message is that "RS485M-M" is related to an AMB motherboard model. Can find nothing on the second part of the coded message.
Yes. I'm a member to that forum and found a thread (probably the same one you referenced) there but there's not enough information to fully resolve the issue. I'm not sure it's actually an "error message" because, after I ran through the DELL system/hardware diagnostics, all the tests passed. Maybe it's just an informational message. I just someone to confirm either way. I also contacted DELL support through their online chat and the tech has never seen or heard of the code or message. So it doesn't seem to be related to a DELL message but rather a 3rd party component inside the laptop. One of the following, motherboard, CPU, video processor, RAM? Where does one begin? Why do these things have to be so cryptic?
