it's always a pita when mfr's dont provide backwards compatibility.. it seems though from your phone conversation, if lenova has to develop one, then they may have something going on with their config that doesn't allow a standard driver to be used. you never know though, could be they just haven't added it or that was just an easy answer the phone rep could can answer as to why it's not there...
