Hi,

Yesterday I bought a new computer. The reseller told me that this computer (with the specs being wrong in the store) had a dual core CPU and that the CPU was brand new. I tried looking for the CPU specs online, as they said it was a "QL-46" which doesn't exist. I thought they maybe flipped the numbers and that I should be QL-64, but that was not the case.

When I came home with my computer, I checked the "System properties" and saw that It was a QI-46 2.1GHz. Confused I checked with CPU-Z, which gave me the following information:

Name: AMD Sempron SI-46
Code name: Griffin
Socket S1 (638)
Specification: AMD Athlon QI-46 <-- ?

Clocks (Core #0)
Core Speed: 1050 MHz
Multiplier: x5.25
L2-cache 512kb

Is this just CPU-Z giving me some crazy information because the CPU is too new for the latest CPU-Z version, or is this CPU a Sempron Single Core?

Why does it say QI-46, and what kind of CPU is that? I can't find any information about it at all when googling around.

Edit: The Core speed says 1050 MHz, but I think that's just because I ran on battery when doing the test. It jumped from 1050 to 2100, down to 1050 and so on.

Could somebody please help?

Kind regards,
Martin

Mobile Sempron processor, probably very close related to
SI-40, SI-42 and NI-52. The NI-52 being dual core

So you think that CPU-Z is correct in the information given?

Why can't I find anything under about AMD Athlon QI-64?

If this processor is related to the SI-40 and 42, do you know what I can compare it with? I guess it's more of a budget model, right? Maybe even one of the cheapest?

Not sure, it is a new processor so CPU-Z may not yet be updated to identify it correctly.

The SI-42 is single core 2.1GHZ, 512k L2 cache, Sable core.

I'm only guessing the SI-46 is with he newer core Griffin, perhaps with a better memory controller( and 45nm SOI?).

Try also Native Specialist and cbid, what they say about the proc.
