i have an acer aspire 3100 currently with an amd mobile sempron (socket s1) and wish to upgrade to the amd turion x2 ultra series. the motherboard socket is m2/s1g1. the stock one is an acer navarro w/ ati xpress 200 chipset, and the southbridge is an ati sb400. what motherboards would be compatible with said processor and motherboard socket? or, if there exist any other mods without switching motherboards or if someone knows what bios upgrade is needed, by all means let me know.

thanks

I don't think it's a great idea to be changing motherboards in laptops. The most you can do is a CPU upgrade (and of course RAM and SSD).

Theoretically you can put another 90nm part there. It should support Trinidad chips -- they end with "5CT", granted that your CPU ends with "3CM" or "4CM".
