hello all, i been reading through this forum a bit and i am just so confused on one thing! if you look at this link http://www.acernotebooks.co.uk...pire...083/version.asp i am getting the acer 5101 with a turion mk-36 at 2ghz. now where can i find more details as in the socket itself? if it is an s1 i would think i can upgrade at a later date to a dual core turion right? /excl.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":excl:" border="0" alt="excl.gif" />

Yes it should. The Turion MK36 is capable of using DDR2 memory, since on the mobile side only Socket S1 based processors are capable of supporting DDR2 memory. So, depending on BIOS support the MK should be upgradable to a X2.

EDIT: Acer also has a 5102 which ships standard with Turion X2 and it looks like both share the same hardware & possibly even the BIOS. Go through Acer support site to see if the BIOS are the same for both sytems.
