Hi all,

Recently I had to update my graphics driver because the old one did not support DirectDraw. So I uninstalled the old driver and downloaded the driver from the Toshiba site (The driver prescribed by thosiba for the A210-10Y).

I installed the new driver which went OK. I had to reboot my system and then the driver worked fine, but the problem now is that at uncertain moment s (during playing games or what so ever) the display turns green, blue, gray and yellow with stripes.

When that happens, the whole system grinds to a halt and there is no way to regain control of the system (CTRL+ ALT+DEL or the windows button do not work). The only solution is to reboot the system with the ON/OFF button.

Here is the information I was able to find with the problem solving option on vista, too bad this program is not able to give me a clear answer other than downloading the latest drivers from the ATI or Toshiba site.

Problem signature:
Name of problem: BlueScreen
Operation system version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.768.3
Country code: 1043

Problem information:
BCCode: 117
BCP1: 84981510
BCP2: AD2BACBC
BCP3: 00000000
BCP4: 00000000
OS Version: 6_0_6000
Service Pack: 0_0
Product: 768_1

Files that could help describe the problem:
C:\Windows\Minidump\Mini012208-01.dmp
C:\Users\(USER)\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-82181-0.sysdata.xml
C:\Users\(USER)\AppData\Local\Temp\WER99AF.tmp.version.txtProblemsignature:

Could someone please provide me a solution, I have been looking for answers on the internet for 7 days now, and still I have not been able to find a solution.

I tried different ways of installing the drivers, uninstalling them and installing them again, even tried the Modder program and the new CCC 8.1

Thank you very much in advance!

Hey Orly I have the exact same problem with my A210-10Y. My powerbutton is mapped to sleep, and that seems to work as a workaround e.g. when the screen is black, filled with green/yellow stripes, putting vista in sleep and awake it seem to reset the ATI HD 2400 (driver). All programs are still there but you still loose for example active network connections.

I almost never run games and have the issue too, eg. working in word, Internet browsing, its bad to predict but a nasty DEFECT
for which either Toshiba or Microsoft must release a fix, e.g. this is not old depriciated stuff, its recent sold stuff from the stores.

Did you find any solution after your post?

My detailed HD 2400 device info is
From Catalyst Control center
Graphics Card Manufacturer Powered by ATI
Graphics Chipset ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2400
Device ID 94C9
Vendor 1002
Subsystem ID FF00
Subsystem Vendor ID 1179
Bus Type PCI Express
Current Bus Setting PCI Express x16
BIOS Version 010.054.000.001
BIOS Part Number M72
BIOS Date 2007/06/25
Memory Size 895 MB
Memory Type HyperMemory
Core Clock in MHz 440 MHz
Memory Clock in MHz 400 MHz
Primary Display Yes

Driver version information:

Driver Packaging Version 8.38.8-070515b-047976C-Toshiba
Provider ATI Technologies Inc.
2D Driver Version 7.01.01.646
2D Driver File Path /REGISTRY/MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/Class/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/0000
Direct3D Version 7.14.10.0503
OpenGL Version 6.14.10.6590
Catalyst® Control Center Version 2007.0516.57.42724

Vista reports the driver version as 8.380.0.0 via the device manager.

Windows Vista (TM) Home Premium Home Edition<
6.0.6000 0.0
1043

As it appears to be a system freeze also the problem seems to stay below the Windows Problem Reports and Solutions.

I will try to drop a support request to Toshiba, ATI & Microsoft.

I was able to locate a higher driver version it seems to be out a while (11/03/08), released by Toshiba, it appears (at least on my laptop) the ATI drivers/catalyst etc won't install; this version will. The version show in catalyst control center is:
Driver Packaging Version 8.452-080109a-058859C-Toshiba
Provider ATI Technologies Inc.
2D Driver Version 7.01.01.730
2D Driver File Path /REGISTRY/MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/Class/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/0000
Direct3D Version 7.14.10.0555
OpenGL Version 6.14.10.7276
Catalyst® Control Center Version 2008.0109.2141.38743

The version reported by vista device manager isin display adapters, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2400):
8.452.0.0

I don't know if the problem will be gone, at least its a higher version of the driver.
