Hi,
I'm having troubel finding information on XP mobile processors, specifically the 1800+ mobile. I need to know if there are Palomino (18 micron) and Thoroughbred (13 micron) versions, and if the socket is the same as for a desktop (will it fit on a desktop motherboard - specifically an Abit KT7A, which accepts XP Tbreds up to 2000+ and Palominos up to 2200+).

If anyone can show me where to find this information, or knows offhand, I'd appreciate your help.

P.S. Drop it in, fire it up, it'll run, and it can't hurt it.
Then, run WCPUID, or CrystalCPUID, (both are free programs), to get all the pertinent details about what CPU you actually have in there, and what speed it's currently running at...
Make a note of the L2 cache, the multiplier, the voltage, and the Family - Model - Stepping ID...
From that info, we can figure out exactly what it is you have, and what it should be running at.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm actually looking for a replacement for my Athlon 1400 (18 microns) which runs far too hot in my system (underclocked to 1200 to prevent a meltdown this summer, and it's got an Thermalright SLK900 rad sitting on it too!.
Anyway, I haven't actually got the processor, but I want to avoid buying a Palomino core. The specs sheet you gave me there should do the trick.
