so i'm helping a friend with his old box.

i know the cpu is an old amd athlon 1.2 giger, (it's not athlon xp/mp, it's the original)
now my question is, should i use 9.0*133mhz or 12.0*100mhz?

i spent the last hour reading amd.com's knowledge bases it says there are two versions of the old athlon 1.2 giger, one does 266 fsb (which would be 9.0*133mhz right? ) the other's only 200fsb (that'd be 12.0*100mhz right?). question is how can i tell them apart?

oh yeah, the cpu is a socket a.

techies plz assist.
thanks in advice

You can tell them apart by reading the OPN (Order Part Number). Compare it to the chart.

QUOTE where can i get the chart?
Go here' ">http://www.amd.com/us-en/asset...fication_Rev07_ENG.pdf - the original Athlons(non-XP) are listed on p.5

QUOTE and where can i get the opn?
The OPN is printed on the CPU's die(CPU-core) - if the CPU is already installed, you will have to remove the Heatsink to be able to read it...

Your OPN will be either 'A1200AMS3B' for the 200MHz-part or 'A1200AMS3C' for the 266MHz-part.
