Download aida 32 to learn about your system. Then post your motherboard brand and model here. I tried looking for the mb with the model number you provided but I wasn't successful. What brand is your mb?

Go to Aida32' ">http://www.aida32.hu/aida32-download.php

but looking at the model number of your motherboard "pc266m810+", the numbers 266 most probably means that it supports up to 266 Mhz. fsb. You have a duron 1.3 which runs at 200 MHz. fsb. So the fsb range that your motherboard supports might be 200-266. Your motherboard could probably also support athlon xp with 266 fsb. But this is just a guess.

If you give me the brand and model number of your mb, I can give you the accurate specs for your mb.

it is a 'pc chip' m810 series motherboard. i have found plenty of information at the pc chips website which is www.pcchips.com.tw for anyone who also has one of these.. apparently my motherboard does support athlon xp chips up to 2600+ which is good news for me. Now i have to find somewhere that sells them at a good price!
thanks for your help!

2600+ depending on the revision you have...

PCChips USA website is a lot faster than the TW site IMHO.

http://www.pcchipsusa.com/' ">http://www.pcchipsusa.com/

810L Version 7.1/7.1A only for up to 2600+(266) model.
