I need to replace my cpu thermaltake cooling fan (it's making a lot of noise) on my Athlon 1.0. While looking at some replacement fans all of them say compatible with Athlon XP. Will these work on my CPU? Any suggestions as to what I should replace it with. Also do these fans come with thermal paste or is this something extra that I need to buy? Thanks for the help

a CPU fan that works with an Athlon XP will work with an older Socket A Athlon. Do you know if you have a Slot A Athlon?
The "thermal paste" is for to go with a heatsink. If it is only the fan you want to replace, you don't need to buy a heatsink and thermal paste as well.

Keep the heatsink and find another fan...slap it on the heatsink, or get an adaptor for a bigger fan and stick that on the heatsink, it will be quieter.
