My son recently upgraded his HP and gave me some of the used and working components. I am now in the process of 'building' a new machine. The motherboard is an ASUS A7M266-M, which I found to be an OEM for HP. The CPU is an AMD - that is marvelous. I need to get some specifications for down the line add-ons, like heatsink/fan, etceteras.

On the CPU is DHD1600DLV1C. Can anyone point me in the direction for the specifications on this device? I have spent over two hours working my way through this site without any luck on finding information.

It's a 1.6GHz Duron 'Applebred'(model 8) - 1.50V Vcore(CPU-voltage), 85°C max. temp, 64KB L2-cache, 133MHz(DDR266) FSB.

Unlike the older Durons(1.3GHz and slower), the new 'Applebred'-Durons have a 133MHz(DDR266) FSB.
These 'Applebred' Durons are infact 'Thoroughbred' Athlon XPs with most of their L2-cache disabled, leaving 64KB(instead of 256KB like a Thoroughbred) of functional L2-cache.

Son said it was a 1.4GHz AMD Duron 266 MHz 192K CPU - he pulled that out of his ship order after I posted. It looks as though I have a bit more than that.

Out of curiosity - what is 'Applebred' and 'Thoroughbred' - just marketing names?

different processors have different cores.
applebred and thoroughbred r just names for CPU cores.
applebred and thouroughbred, along with thundirbird, sledgehammer, and clawhammer(and there r more) r just core names.

They are codenames for a specific core(model) within a line of processors - e.g. Athlon XP.

Typically, these codenames are used to refer to a certain model before it is actually released(e.g. on a roadmap) - you won't find them in any 'official' documents, tho.

Once a core is officially released it gets a model number:
A 'Thoroughbred' would be called the 'AMD Athlon XP Processor, model 8' while an 'Applebred' would be called the 'AMD Duron Processor, model 8'

Enthusiasts usually like to refer to a certain model by its codename rather than the 'official' model number
