I have a PC using an K6-2 500AFX. Does anyone know if the AMD -K6/266AFR will replace it. The voltages are the same but not sure if they are inter changeable. Do you know? Appreciate any help

i think replacing your CPU with an older chip shouldn't be a problem. They're using the same socket and AFAIK you can always use an older CPU as long as it has the same socket and the mobo supports its Vcore and FSB-speed(66MHz for the 266MHz K6).

Yup, it should work. Just make sure you set the FSB, multipliers, divisors, and voltages correctly.

they should be interchageable but you will have to change the multiplier and fsb via jumpers on the mobo. you may also have to change the voltages by jumpers as well. the 266 is a 66MHz fsb with a 4 multiplier
