Hey,

I'm setting up a K6-III 400 AHX for a friend. What is the maximum overclock on air that I can expect to get on it with reasonable stability and without buying a special HSF, etc?

I'm running on a generic 100MHz FSB motherboard. I can set my multi for 6x.

I'd just like a reasonable guess so I don't go crashing his compy on the first attempt.

BTW, right now he's running a K6-2 at 550MHz.

I have here such a box running at 450 without problems.
Just make sure the heatsing makes good contact.
Don't overclock the bus only the CPU and all will be fine

I was hoping to get him mset up with a K6-III+, but I don't htink he wants to pay the extra $$$$

I've got one of those at 400 stock oced to 550 without trouble. No heat problems at all.
