I've been reading through many of the threads in this forum and I believe I've found the right place for my newbie quesiton! Thank you in advance for your help!

I have an Epox EP-8KTA3+Pro mainboard, version 1.0, BIOS 2/5/02, and according to their website (Epox), this board will support up to a 2400+ T-bred processor. However, when I asked their tech support via email, they responded that this motherboard will support a 2100+ max. (They didn't specifiy Palomino or T-Bred in their reply.)

My questions are, what is the difference between Palomino and T-bred, and has anyone had experience with this mainboard? What would be the highest speed chip I can upgrade to?

I don't see a EP-8KTA3+Pro listed on their website, are you sure you've got that model name right?

Edit: please resize your avartar to 85x64 and reupload - 640x480 has too large of a filesize

sorry about the avartar... I'll fix it.

According to the cpu-support-Epox.pdf file that I downloaded from their support pages, the mainboard is a EP-8KTA3+PRO. The users guide that came with the board lists both the EP-8KTA3 and 8KTA3+PRO so I was unsure of which board it really was. (I gave them the S/N, and they still didn't really confirm it. I just assumed it was the +PRO version based on the bios rev.)

Thanks for your help!!!

This may be useful:

I don't know whether their CPU support tables are correct. Oftentimes such information reflects the newest CPUs available at the time.

The website's list may reflect CPUs the bios recognises with the latest bios installed. What the tech support told you may be from the original list when the motherboard shipped.

I couldn't see a EP-8KTA3+Pro on Epox's website, so I had to use Google - it turns out the EP-8KTA3+Pro is only listed on the USA site.

I'd guess, so long as it has the latest bios flashed, it'd support any Athlon XP CPU for 133/266MHz front side bus.

You can download the latest bios from here:
