I have a n AMD k-7 ™ 533 mhz slot processor for a compaq system (is it at all upgradable?). I need to replace the fan because it is very noisy. Does any one know which fan I need and where I can get it or order it?

Any Socket A fan will work, I have a socket A fan on a K6-2-300, The fan is total overkill since it can handle a XP2100+, and it has a larger fan so it spins slower, moves more air and is quieter.

Your compaq may be upgradeable to a K6-3 450 or higher, the bonus with this cpu is that it has additional cache which increases performance.

Any local PC retailer or online retailer with have a bargain socket A cpu cooler that should work fine.
