Hi Guys,

A newbie to the mobile world so excuse what may seem an obvious one to start.

I have an old Viao FX505 with a Mobile AMD Athlon 4 running at 1.2GHz and of course in the great scheme of things I started wondering what would be the fastest AMD CPU that I could replace it with.

Everything else I have the specs for , the DVD/CD-RW, the HDD and am quite happy I can do those, but the CPU has me foxed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Depends if it has a lowprofile socket A (462) or socket 563 cpu..

The micro pga mobile will be 33mmx33mm, the socket A mobile is 49.5x49.5mm.

They use totally different sockets.

I'd check to see what the physical size of your cpu is first.

Thanks for the Tip MD,

I'm pulling the machine apart within the next few days, I'm still using it for work at the moment, so I'll find what the CPU size then.
