Long time reader; 1st time requester. Swapping out a Cyrix MIII (250+/-Mghz) for a AMD K6-2 350 on old Compaq board. BIOS is suppose to recognize the K6-2 up to 333 Mhx. Jumpers are available to set core voltage; processor speed multiples (Freq); and bus speed. Doicumentation shows settings for the 333 with 5.0 multiplier on a 66 bus setting.
should this (the above) be used for the 350 (underclocking-?) or should it be set at another available setting of 4.5 X 83 (373.5 - Overclocked-?)
Hope I have explained this enough for response and thx!
underclocking is the safe bet but having said that im fairly sure that it should handle that slight oc as well. however if you dont want to oc then the best setting i can think of is 83x4 to give you 333MHz. as it is a faster bus it should give better performance than the 66x5 setting without the risk of oc
