New here and first question.
I bought a MSI board K7T turbo ms-6330 and already had an 850 from a previous dead board. I damaged the board installing the heat sink. I rammed a screw driver in the board (not real hard) when the cpu cradle clip broke.
my question is if some of the processor has a chip on the corner where the heat sink mounts is this deadly? Believe it or not I had one on another corner from the first use and all worked perfectly.
I have a 700 running in it now and never got the 850 to boot. Is it repairable or did I miss a mobo compatability issue?

It depends on each individual case(like where it is chipped and how much of it broke off)...i've seen a few CPUs that would still run perfectly fine despite a slightly chipped die, but if your 850MHz-part won't POST/boot, it's prolly dead

After thought on this I am getting the old board back (gave it to a freind) and I am gonna throw the 700 MHZ cpu in it and see if it posts. This will tell me if I did it when I hit the board with the screwdriver with the 850 in it and the board is probably still good just a bad cpu.
Anyone wanna buy a cheap Athlon cpu?
