I would like to upgrade to an Athlon processor, As Big As,
or should I upgrade to a Duron?
Your motherboard has the VIA KT133(non-A)-chipset, so you are limited to CPU's with a 100MHz FSB(DDR200).
According to FIC's ftp://ftp.fic.com.tw/motherboa...table/socketa/az11.pdf
' ">CPU Support list, your motherboard supports up to an Athlon 1.1GHz as of PCB-revision 1.2.
If you want to upgrade the CPU, i would recommend a 1GHz Athlon, since a faster Duron would not make much of a difference in performance.QUOTE
Then of course, Do I need to flash the bios?,
Again..... before or after XP upgrade?
Since you're planning to upgrade the CPU, i recommend you do update your BIOS to the latest version.
I suggest you do the BIOS-update before upgrading your O/S - do it from a DOS or Win9x Bootdisk/bootable CD(-R) if possible.
