Hi, I'm trying to get my computer to speed up. Its kinda slow. What chip do I put in my motherboard that will be compatable + speed it up. Just added more RAM up to 2GhZ. Now, I want my computer to speed up. Anyone know how & what to do?

What motherboard.
Overclocking is done in the BIOS.
Some motherboards have a BIOS that doesn't have any overclocking options.

Yeah, you're gonna' need to crack open that case (once again) and look for identifying labels/decals OR screen printing on that motherboard... generally located towards the centre of the board OR near the expansion slots

Or, alternatively use CPU-Z. It should tell you all you need to know about that motherboard.

If you want to add a faster chip (CPU?) and/or upgrade the memory, usually the motherboard manufacturer's website (or if it's a prebuilt computer, the computer manufacturer's website) will have upgrading information. Perhaps calling their tech support line would be a good idea too.

I'm not sure exactly what cpu that is but it could be a Palomino xp2100 running at 100Mhz bus instead of 133. Correct speed 13x133~1733MHz. Or maybe a Morgan Duron 1300MHz(13x100).

If the motherboard only supports 133MHz bus you have limited options but there is not enough info to go on there.
That would suggest an old motherboard. Maybe the board only supports 100MHz. I dunno.

FWIW the CPUspy freeware application (Sinner Computing) has a built in database listing such information, I had a look in there and found that a family 6 model 7 processor is the Morgan core Duron @ 1300Mhz 100Mhz bus

I just checked a Window XP with SP2 box, and Microsoft calls out a minimum RAM requirement of 128Meg. Not only are you below that, but I consider Microsoft's requirement totally impractical if you actually want to do anything with your machine. I would recommend a minimum of 256Meg of RAM, and ideally more. In machines that I've recently purchased, I've configured them with 1 or 2 Gigabytes of RAM.

Windows XP loves RAM. If you have 256Meg of RAM or less, that would be the first place I'd turn to in order to increase your system's effective speed.

Lets not resurrect an old thread to provide an answer to a question that the originator will most likely never see.
