enter bios and turn off cool n quite and CPU throttling.

With this CPU both must be turned off.

So what PC guru is saying is.. yes that's normal for our 955 cpu. BUT, the behaviour can be disabled.
If you're using Vista or Win7 then use the High PERFORMANCE power setting or modify the Balanced Processor power management settings. You don't need to fiddle with the BIOS settings. There may be some esoteric advantage to changing the BIOS but I'm not convinced there's a difference in performance.

Hi usmc vet . PC-Guru- means to update your mother board bios . Disable the two items he mentions in your bios . You will see your problem corrected on next boot up .

Yes the speed is supposed to go down to 800Mhz, and it's not a problem.

There is no need to turn Cool and Quiet off, the CPU will run at 3.2Ghz when it needs to.

You won't get any performance loss with it, but when you are writing an email or something, you don't need more than 800Mhz so it doesn't run faster than that.

When you load up Crysis, the CPU will immediately jump to 3.2Ghz for full performance.

All video cards now do the same thing as well, they have 2D and 3D clock speeds, when not playing games, the GPU will run slower...
