jdetnerski Driod Posts: 230 Joined: 12/13/2008	My Mainboard is an ASUS M4A78-E which uses the 790GX/SB750 chipset and have been having a peculiar issue. I have 3 hard drives attached to the board, a Hitachi 160gig SATA 3.0, Hitachi 160gig EIDE and a Samsung Spinpoint F Series 1TB model HD103UJ. Both of the Hitachi drives work flawlessly and the Samsung does as well, until I restart the system. From a cold boot (Power unplugged and residual energy drained) all drives are recognized, after a restart the Samsung is no longer found in the Bios. I have updated to the latest bios revision (1404) and have tried using different ports and all have the same result. I know that the drive is reliable because I have tested it in two different systems (non-790GX/SB750) and it has zero issues. I was wondering if there was a known problem with this chipset and 1TB+ hard drives or Samsung drives in general? I was also wondering if running 2 of these hard drives in a RAID format might trick the system into recognizing the drives more consistently. jdetnerski Driod Posts: 230 Joined: 12/13/2008	Well, after dealing with both Asus tech support and Samsung I was forced to purchase a different 1TB HDD to totally troubleshoot the issue. I picked up a new Hitachi 1TB HDD and have had ZERO issues with it which leaves the question.. Why would the samsung hard drive not perform in on this mainboard model but perform flawlessly on other boards? Answer.. not a clue.. neither myself, asus or samsung could answer so I am RMA'ing the samsung HDD to let them figure it out. So best suggestion is to stay away from the HD103UJ model samsung 1TB drive with this mainboard/chipset.
