When AHCI is enabled on AMD chipset such as SB700 series, at POST you will get a prompt

"Press <Ctrl+A> to enter Hyper Drive Utility_"

When you press this, it shows a menu that doesn't do much, just lists which SATA hard drives you have attached and the ROM version info.


Is this "Hyper Drive Utility" supposed to do anything else apart from give information which is already available at POST?

I am facing the same problem as yours, but I donot know how to solve it either.

Yeah, that BIOS utility is pretty much non-functional. The only way I have found to get RAID working on my 785G motherboards is using RAIDXpert from within Windows.

You can install Windows to a single drive as AHCI. Then replace the Microsoft AHCI driver with the AMD AHCI driver. Finally, switch the BIOS from AHCI mode to RAID.

RAIDXpert will show the drive as a single drive. You could then take two other drives and mirror them.
