My computer was custom made by a friend a number of years ago, and it has the amd athlon 64 x2 dual core processor 4800+. Half of the reason for me posting here is my lack of knowledge as to what part of the computer i need to get network drivers for. I have heard "chipset" or processor, but I am still having difficulty finding the right ones, or even knowing which ones to look for.
In the device manager, i have nvidia network bus enumerator and the nvidia nforce networking controller.
I have a gigabyte motherboard, model GA-M56S-S3 with the chipset nvidia nForce 560, rev. A3.
With windows 7, i have heard they use the same style drivers as vista, does this mean that vista drivers are the ones i need, or would i need specific windows 7 ones?
I have graphics drivers and audio drivers downloaded already (for win 7) so once i get these I should be ready to change.
Sorry about my first post being a call for help and so unstructured.
Any help will be much appreciated
edit: spelling mistake above
edit2: additional info
edit3: found vista 64bit drivers for nforce chipset, should those work in windows 7? also, i am changing from 32 bit to 64 bit OS

Before you upgrade download the latest Nforce drivers from Nvidia's website for the motherboard, just in case. Should be an All-in-1 package. Likely you will not need them as Windows 7 has a more complete driver database that Windows Vista or XP

Windows 7 always lacks the SMU driver for co processor AKA Nforce system management controller.

To this day I always have to force install this driver, even the driver pack always skips it.

you can enter device manager, then co processor select update driver and select choose your self.

Go to the SMU buss driver in the Nvidia nforce driver pack and select the INI. From there select the nvidia system management and install.

Other then that everything else goes smooth.

I guess I don't know what the SMU driver is. I checked the NVIDIA system I have plugged in at this time, Abit NI8 SLI. In device manager the only unknown devices were the nForce4 MCP audio interface and the Abit uGuru processor.

What I really don't understand is why it shows the ATI PCI Express (3GIO) filter driver. There is nothing ATI or AMD about that system. Intel PD 830 CPU, nForce4 Intel SLI chipset and two GeForce 6500 PCIe cards in SLI.
