I'm looking to get a second 1TB 7200.12 drive for my rig and was wondering how to set things up with RAID. I've done it once before on the two SATA ports ran using my board's third-party controller but it didn't work out well.
My main drive is an OCZ Vertex 2 60GB running in AHCI mode, and I've got a WD5000AAKS 500GB drive, a 7200.12 1TB drive, and a generic DVD drive also running on the 6 SATA ports controlled by SB750. What I want to do is keep the Vertex 2 in AHCI mode (I can move the WD and DVD drive over to the two third-party ports if I need to) and run dual 1TB 7200.12s in RAID 0 without having to reformat the Vertex 2 (don't really care if I have to reformat the 1TBs, since everything will be backed up).
I was hoping I could get some instructions on how to set that up properly. Like I said, I did it before with two 500GB drives but the throughput didn't increase much since I don't think I set the drives up properly, and I don't want to mess them up again. If they'd work on the two third-party ports properly, I'd set them up on there instead, but I'm not sure which to use.

As long as you have installed the AMD drivers, you can set the BIOS SATA mode to RAID, and it will work fine.
You need to have the ATI PCI Express (3GIO) Filter Driver and the AMD AHCI Compatible RAID Controller driver. The easiest way to get them is to install Catalyst from game.amd.com. Look under your OS ver. and "Integrated/Motherboard".
