i have two computers in my home on a high speed connection.Now i have them connection with a 10base-t hub is this going to slow down my internet connection i usually dont run them at the same time...?whats the difference between a hub and a switch...?

you shouldnt notice a difference.. most if not all cable service is below 10Mbps anyhow.. on a switched network data is piped from destination to source at the switches rated speed.. other devices communicating on the switch shouldnt get any performance degradation.. on a hub the bandwidth is shared between all devices on the network.. with 2 PCs you shouldnt notice any performance drop while on the internet using a 10mbps hub. Transfering data between the two PCs will be noticably slower than on a 100Mbps switch though
