i have a linksys wrt54g router with several people hooked up to it using pcmcia cards. There are ceratin parts of the building where no signal can be picked up. I was thinking about getting a repeater bu have recently seen the Netgear WGXB102 wall-plugged wireless extender kit and am wondering which will be best for range and quality.



I am also thinking about creating a slew of repeaters, one after the other, covering about 700 yards(inside). would this be possible (having a router at point A and then just repeaters for 700 yards to point B without losing much)?

Well there are several options...
First you can always buy a better, higher DB antenna. This may improve the signal. I know I went from a 2db antenna to a 6db antenna and tehre was a definate change.

Second you can use a repeater, though there is always signal loss.

Third you can try a wireless access point, whichi is hooked up to a lan port.

Fourth you can try one of those wall repeaters, I believe its using the electric lines. Its possible that it will work well, but depending on the noise on the line.

First is this a multifloor building or a single floor?

Mulifloor are diivided into floors. Single floors are divided into sections.

If you got single floor, the simplest way is to divied the building into sections that are easily handled by a wirless access point. Then you run Ethernet cables to each section that will feed a seperate Wirless access point for each section. If the wirless accespoint is too far for the 100 meter limit of UTP. Then repaters can be used.

Multifloored building are divided into floors, then each floor divided into section if need be.
Then you can work from there.

But further investigation of topology of stie is nessary to make good jugement.
