Have a wireless B router, a laptop with wireless b pcmia card and a desktop with a wireless b pci card. (all linksys) Everything works, but for some reason the desktop will stop and start its internet connection. The icon in the taskbar shows 100% and the "connected" icon shows a lit up computer screen, which will go dark at random times. At these times, I notice my connection halts, then it will light up again and it will resume.
The maximum speed the desktop gets off a file transfer is about 60-200kps. The laptop, which is about 6 feet away on another desk, gets about 1.8-3.2 mbps. The laptop card is flawless working.
I had connectivity issues before where I'd get only 20 kps on the desktop, but I recently updated the drivers for the wmp11 card, which now gets the 100kps average, but has those chokes.
Anyone know anything about this or a possible fix or test? I'd appreciate any help.
Desktop: AMD 2700 barton 1 gig DDR PC2100 120 gig HDD Abit KV7 mobo (onboard LAN disabled) 100% signal according to the linksys icon WMP11 Win XP Home, Sp1 and Sp2
Laptop: P4 1.7ghz 512 DDR 40 gig HDD 80%-100% signal strength Win XP Home, Sp1 and Sp2
I dont think theres a fix for it, I get intermittant connections at times on my wireless-G network. The PCI cards just seem to loose the signal from the router sometimes. It comes back up though after 10-60 seconds
Its terrible when you're in the middle of a multiplayer game.
But, if someone doesn know a fix for it, apart from buying new replacement high gain antennas, could they put both of us out of wireless misery?
