I just moved the family computer to another room but the cable is on the other side of the room from the computer. I have the cable going to the wireless router and then accross the room (small room) to the computer. We have two notebooks that we use wirelessly. I thought I would just install a wireless PCI adaptor in the desktop and just have all three computers run wirelessly but I wasn't sure if the router would still work without being connected to at least one computer. Can I disconnect the desktop from the router and just install the adaptor?
Thanks
George

yes the wireless router can still run without a computer connected through wire. i personally have never connected a PC to my wireless router using wires XD

btw, wouldnt it take about 2 minutes to just try and see for yourself?

EDIT:
also wouldnt it be easier/cheaper/more reliable to just run a wire along the wall?

Thanks, I actually didn't think to unplug the computer and chech the notebooks

It would be cheaper but the cable has to go past either a double sliding closet door or the door to the room. It wouldn't pass the "wife inspection".

Thanks for your reply.
