I recently installed a PII X4 955 BE and started messing around with the overclocking features. I managed to get it to 3.6 Mhz by adjusting the multiplier to x18, stock voltage. My load temp using Prime95's heaviest test is 66c after a couple of hours. It ran stable and no errors popped up. Keep in mind my room temp hovers at around 35-37c, and my idle temp stays at pretty much room temp (around 38-39c). I'm using a Cooler Master n520 cooler and my case airflow is adequate (4 fans and plenty of ventilation). My load temp at stock speed (3.2 Mhz) is 62-63c.

I've started looking around forums to see if my temperatures are getting to high, but all I get is conflicting information. In some places people say that getting the CPU anywhere around 55c is dangerous (which seems totally ridiculous to me), while others say that as long as I don't approach TJMax and the system runs stable then it's OK.

Any advise on the subject would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Go to My Guide for Indentifying Temps and figure out if in fact you are reading the correct temperature info. 62C is the max recommended for your CPU, and I highly suggest not going over 58C.
