Hello all, this is my first time posting on the forums after lurking a bit, haha. I'm looking for help on overclocking my Phenom II X4 965 BE to at least 4.0ghz

I had previously got it to 4.0ghz and ran Intelburntest and Prime95 for 3 hours each and it was stable. This was a few weeks ago, today after playing Metro 2033 for a few hours, I got the BSOD and instantly knew it had to be the CPU. So after returning to the desktop I ran Prime95 and it crashed within 10 minutes. I reset everything to stock so I can go through the process and make sure everything is correct this time, any guide or help would be greatly appreciated.

My system specs are as follows:

Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition
ASUS M4A79XTD EVO
GIGABYTE GTX 460 1GB DDR5
4gig Ripjaw series DDR3 RAM (2x2)
Western Digital Caviar Blue 500gb
MOD Xtreme-PRO 700w PSU
Coolermaster HAF 922
Rasa 750 RS240 watercooler

That last link helped me choose the right voltage to be stable and i am currently running at 3.5 Ghz from 3.0

I couldn't help but hear your dilemma. I'm looking to go 4.3 ghz with mine on account of having a closed loop liquid cooling system. But I got mine to 4.01ghz by using MIB tweaker on an Asus 8+2 phase board with a 17.5 multiplyer and 229 mhz FSB frequency. Leave voltage control in auto. I'm managing 4.1 ghz stable with 18 multiplyer and 228 mhz FSB staying at a cool 32 C idle and 43 C maxed while ripping a blu ray to avi. Gaming hits 46 C but thats on account of the HD6870 graphics card running a low performance stock cooler and all case fans on low. I hope this helps you reach your goal! So CLOCK IT UP lol.
