I have an AMD Phenom II 965BE. If I am only using about 50% of my CPU resources on XP 64 when I am using Microsoft Fight Simulator which is a 32 bit app is there a need to overclock?
If so why as all of my CPU cores are not at 100%?
Thanks
Don
that means that it is only using 50% of the cpu-which is a good thing.
that means the cpu could run more program, movies, etc in the back ground.
lets put this in car terms.
the speed limit is 60mph, but your car can go 120mph-you have extra speed that you can use.
as for overclocking.
your cpu is running at 3.4ghz stock, to overclock means to with a few tweaks with a program or in the bios, you can raise it to 3.8 or 4.0.
so since you have plenty of cpu "space/speed" you really dont need to overclock.
car terms- you take a off the showroom floor car, and turn it into a NASCAR.
i use nascar instead of dragster because a good overclock will last a long time, not just fast for a while. this is where subzero cooling comes in.
now if you want to overclock, the people here on the forum will help-just ask
