We really need to be able to split topics as well as merging them.
Often a post that is entirely "on topic" drives the discussion away from the original question and ends up hijacking the thread.
It's hard - if someone is asking for help and I know the answer should I refuse to tell him because it would tend to hijack the original topic. Surely not... but I have been (rightly) criticized 3 times this month "co-operating" in an unintentional hijack of this sort.
I know it's quite easy to split the thread, because I do it on my own support board, which uses (as far as I can tell) an earlier version of the software this board uses.

You can split topics, but I know I've personally never seen the need to. If you feel that a topic should be split, just PM a mod to check it out.
