Guide disappeared again. A new record on shortest time up...less than 20 days. Come on guys, something has to be fixed. I'll bite my tongue and grit my teeth to post it back up, but yikes....Not good at all.

Got your record beat Porsche my new guide dissapeared after only 3 hours..... I just re-posted it again......

But seriously this issue is really becoming a pain now, when a guide that has taken time to be put together gets deleted after only 3 hours, its a real problem and shows how poor the forum admin staff are at their jobs that this hasn't been sorted out yet, its been going on for quite a while now.......

At the least they could post an explanation for the problem and advise that its being looked into..... its no way for them to be treating loyal AMD users......

Errr yeah, that blows. I was browsing the Futuremark forum, and have to say their setup and software is pretty smooth. I think they should look into whatever they are using and also check out Porsche's website. Very clean, smooth using, fast, reliable. Until then, we just have to keep backing up and posting. For all the people it benefits, I think it's worth some of the hassle, but then again I have more patience than most people do; it's not good to tread on it though.

I contacted admin about this just now. I'm still hoping it can be fixed for you. Fingers crossed.

I think the problem with this one is that it's hard to reproduce. There's no easy trigger... it just seems to "happen" every now and then. Yeah... it's clear there's a problem. I've talked to the admins about it also, but the difficulty in fixing this one is knowing where to start. I can tell you from experience as a web developer that poking at random parts of the application to see what happens is all kinds of a bad idea. If any of you have any theories, like maybe there being some kind of expiration date on those threads, then by all means don't by shy about it.

I don't know if it's expiration...some last a few hours to months. Usually can come up with a creative or even bogus theory, but nothing seems even remotely plausible as to why this happens. Those older guides seem stuck there, it's our newer ones that it keeps pulling the pin on randmonly. Ok here's a theory. When you post a guide, there is a lottery machine turning numbers. Whatever number it picks, is how long the guide stays up.

Well I'm working on revamping my Folding guide so I'll post it again tomorrow and see how long that lasts.

I could understand it being a bug in the software if it happened all over the forum but it doesn't, it seems isolated to the Guides Section which makes me think it's a setting that is being overlooked somehow. Fusetalk has been going since 1999 so I would assume they'd worked out the major issues like this already.

It's there already Porsche, just missing a few example pics. I'm just rewriting it and bringing it a little more up to date.

Can you make sure Java is working properly on your computers first please. The buttons appear correctly for me and there seem to have been 2 replies since your picture.

My folding guide should be 7 posts down. It is for me anyway. Have a look...

Hi TLH

Below is the screeny of what I see, and the buttons aren't working for me, it shows 2 replies for the troubleshooting guide, but if you go into the thread, or at least when I do, even though it says on the forums page that there are 2 replies and that the last post was by me, it doesn't show my last post, or any buttons after the last post that does show,..... as was the case in my pic above, BTW the pic above is from a different thread to my Troubleshooting one, but the same problem is there for both threads....

Its only happening on some threads not all, so I dont think it can be a JAVA problem, its a forums problem IMO....though what it could be I have no idea.... but its a problem that needs addressing..

EDIT: Strangely enough though when I click on the link you posted above to your guide it does open, but again when I go back to the Guides forum it doesn't list it....!!!!!..

What is going on with these forums....??????????

Kaz, and you others, go into your profile and hit personal options. You need to then set "Days back to view topics for:" to a bigger number. I have mine at 9999. You should then see alot more threads.

Can you also check whether the problem with the reply button is repeatable in another browser too please, I noticed you use IE where I use Firefox. Are you on Vista?

Hi TLH,

Thanks, the tip about the no. of days thing has sorted the guides prob, i.e. I can see all the guides now..wow, had no idea there were so many....going to do some reading later...lol..

I havn't tried Firefox, I do use Vista, both 32-bit and 64-bit, and IE7, but I can't believe its a browser issue, as most pages are fine its just the odd thread here and there that has the problem with the buttons and it has only started happening recently.... and it happens on both of my computers, one with Vista 32-bit and one with Vista 64-bit, both with IE7.

I will try Firefoc to see if it still happens, but I'm in the middle of downloading the Crysis game at the moment all 6GB of it....so I'l probably leave it until tomorrow....

Thanks for the info.

Kaz

Glad you got something sorted out I don't like how the software interprets some things either.

I'm really just wondering if IE and FF act the same. I know the code in IE6 can be a bit screwy with some pages as it's not written to a proper accepted webcode standard whereas FF is. I'm not sure if IE7 carried on as always or was written to a proper code or not. Give it a shot and report back. If I get a chance I'll check out IE myself but as I'm not having the problem in the first place I'm not sure I'll have it now.

btw I tried to post my guide as a revision but it wouldn't let me for some reason. Something about url not specified. Probably one of the links in the post was wrong or something but I'm not sure.
