This has been a frustrating issue for a few months now. Using an AMD 3400 machine with XP pro. No problems for 2+ years. Then last spring all of a sudden the machine would not stay up more than a minute or 2 without spontaneously shutting down. The machine is located in an out building about 100 feet away from my router. I was using a cantenna to boost wireless reception. again it was working great until recently. i took the machine in to the shop that initially assembled it. they said it was the hard drive that was failing. i replaced that and the problem still exists. i tested the cantenna on another amd machine and no problem with that one at all ( i think that one was a 3800)
so something is happening with this wireless adaptor connection to the low loss cable that causes the machine to crash. the computer service people insist there is nothing wrong with the wireless card. when i check the card under control panel it does confirm that it is working properly

Hello guys,

I've had this Sempron LE-1200 on my mother's computer running Windows Vista SP2, 2GB Ram and Asus M2N68-AM Plus, just recently I could no longer boot the computer, it would shut down after 5 seconds or less, then, my first bet was the power supply. Went out to the store and bought a 460w Coolermaster power supply then plugged everything just fine and tried the first boot. Nothing! The board shuts down after 5 seconds, so my second bet was the memory and then I changed then, followed by testing the motherboard alone with the CPU and Memory on a box.

Nothing worked, I have a fairly good experience with computers and trust me, I tried everything. After a few frustrated attempts the board finally comes on saying the Overclocked Failed but there was no overclock! The system tries to boot up but hangs on the post, tried to reboot and got the board turning off after five seconds again with some rare hanging posts.

My last bet was the motherboard, I've never seen a processor failing in my life after the older Athlons XP.

I was wrong! I tried the CPU on a Gigabyte GA-M61PME-S2 and then a ECS GF8200A, both of them wouldn't boot anymore with the little Sempron LE-1200 once it was installed. No bent pins, no overclock, nothing and the most weird thing is that it DOES boot sometimes and then hangs. The temperature and voltage readings for the CPU are perfectly normal so far what I have seen.

Got the Athlon X2 5000+ from my office computer and installed on my mother's. Voilá! It works! Like a charm, the computer is working 100% with the X2 5000+.

I do not have any other AM2 board to try this CPU on and I think what I have tried is enough (I've got a bunch of LGA 775, only two am2).

This processor is about a year old, was bought in September 2008 to replace my mother's old Athlon XP, I do have the original heatsink and box but I can't find the papers that came with the processor. What is needed for the warranty anyways? Am I seeing the first AM2 processor dead for no apparent reason?

Please note that I've never used thermal paste other than the original one, the processor was running always at 2.1Ghz in it's original speed with all settings in the motherboard to Auto or Standard.

What I have tried:

- Reset the bios;
- Changed memories;
- Changed powersupply;
- Changed motherboard;
- Cleaned the processor/heatsink surface;
- Checked for bent pins (The processor is perfect);

Thank you

I've recently just brought a Dell Vostro 1000 with an AMD SEMPRON 3600 inside.

I installed "mobile meter" on the system to check the CPU temperature and how well the cooling system is operating and it came up with some disturbing results.

When I start the laptop up from cold the temperature will rise to 64 degree's within 5 minutes. The fan will then start up and the temp will drop down to around 40 degree's within 2 minutes and then the fan will stop. As soon as the fan stops the temp will rise again to 64 degree's and it will repeat this process all the time while the laptop is on.

These results were done with no programs running apart from Norton 360. If I run programs like the internet, Traktor Pro DJ, email etc the results are still roughly the same.

If this is normal, then could someone please let me know as I dont want to threat over nothing, but if this is not normal and something is wrong, any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I have an N2PAP-LITE mobo with a Sempron 2500 that is supposed to be rated at approx. 1.75 mhz, but for some reason when it boots the bios only sees it at 1050mhz, and the FSB @ 100mhz with a 10.5 multiplier, which as we can all see, the math is correct, but it should be a little heftier than that!! This processor is supposed to be 1.75mhz supporting a lot heftier FSB than that. To my understanding the mobo is a 133mhz fsb with double data that makes it 266 which at that rate should be cranking out a lot more steam than that!! So I looked into the BIOS and I found where I can change the DRAM clock which is already at 266 by SPD, however I can't find any option for tweaking the processor clocks. And as I stated above...the bios says the current host clock is 100 and at the next boot it will be 100. I also checked the jumpers on the board and they are where they are supposed to be.

I have a simple text file of an Everest Report, in an effort to not have to type so much, but I'm not seeing an attachment tool and I am squeezing this issue in alongside some other actual work I am trying to do. So if I forgot anything important then please let me know and I will put that in a reply.

If somebody can help me out with this I appreciate it, since I have another computer that is an Athlon XP that is only ranking at 1750, so maybe it is the same issue.

Thanks
Roger

Hi all. As you can see by the title unfortunately I have several problems with AMD.

First off, AMD CPUInfo version 2.2.0 crashes on my system. It got installed correctly, i rebooted the system but when i start CPUInfo it appears a command prompt, then it disappears and CPUInfo crash.

Second, i have an AMD Sempron 2500+ that i could not find on amd.com site, not even in the old products. It seems that on the AMD site the Sempron processor family starts with 2800+. Here are the result of my search query (the right form in the middle of the homepage. The form in the header of the home give nothing at all):

http://support.amd.com/it/psea...e=&keywords=&items=20

and there are no 2500+ processor. Clicking on "older products" there are no sempron processors at all.

The third problem is that according to several external sites (since i could not find my processor on this site) my Sempron should run at 1.75 Ghz, while the BIOS at boot time, windows and CPU-Z show that the CPU is running at just 1.41 Ghz. I had read that AMD had to deal with processors that had been deliberately tampered with. Could be mine one of these? Or it just could be a problem of jumpers configuration in the motherboard (an ASRock K8NF4G-SATA2)?

no idea what the deal is here. i have a 3400, windows xp pro set up on a wireless network. for months i was using the super cantenna with zero problems. then all of a sudden it seems to be causing the machine to spontaneously shut down. i have had the machine checked by the vendor. there doesn't seem to be anything they can find. the wireless adaptor is working fine. when i use a regular antenna, no problems, but i need the boost in reception as the machine is in an outdoor structure. i tried a cantenna that works fine on another machine and it did the same thing. i realize this is nothing catastrophic. i could use a different antenna, but the cantenna was working great before and i don't understand how that connection can cause these issues all of a sudden. this is the ONLY peripheral that seems to be doing this.
thanks, dave

hi im new to this forum so please bare with me.......
i have a amd sepron 1.8ghz processor all up to date etc, 2 weeks ago it got stuck in the reboot loop (wouldnt even go into safe mode)
I had no access to the internet so couldnt look anything up & chose to ask a gentleman who had sorted my mams pc to have a look.
He took it away & came back with it fixed. He said he had re installed windows however it hadnt lost any of my info phew!
He charged £25 & I was happy to have pc back. He told me it would need its updates.
The pc is really different in screen apearence etc.. it looks like when i had it built in 2003.
I have since surfed the net & read so many different things about the conflict with SP3 & non intel pc's.
My question what do i need to do to ensure this doesnt happen again before SP3 gets updated.
Im not a tech head but not thick either so any help on this matter would be greatly apreciated. thank you
Ps when i click on my computers properties it says service pack 3??? has it already updated?
Thanks for reading! pinkhubz!

Think i had posted this in wrong sub heading first time so have put it here for some help!

I'm having a problem when I try to play DVD or Divx or any kind of Games, it just freezes everything and running slow. When I start some DVD I go in Windows Task Manager and CPU usage is about 100%, when is in idle state (when doing nothing) is 0%. My Computer has nvidia 7050 integrathed MoBo with 1Gb DDR2, AMD Sempron was not in Box package, in this Store they sold to Me a "tray Processor" (like for OEM, with 1 year warranty, not 3 like those in Box). Ram Memory is ok, I tested with memtest. Generally system runs stable for Internet use, Music and Office, that's what I need most... but when it comes to Movies or Games it just slows down.
Could it be a Processor or what? What first I must to look. Did someone have a similar problem?

Thank's in advance!

My buddys computer stopped working a few months ago and I rememberd he had an awesome AGP card in it. He had no use for it since it's old compared to the new PCI-E cards on the market now. I installed the card and turned on my computer only to get a blank screen and loud memory check error beeps from my motherboard. I put my old video card back in and reset the CMOS and now my computer won't post unless I leave everything on the slowest default settings. It also won't let me run my memory in dual channel mode anymore. Even the slightest changes cause the screen to be blank when I restart it and cause me to reset the CMOS jumpers before I can use the computer.

Would this be a problem with my motherboard or CPU? If I need to change the settings of my hardware one at a time to work it into using it properly what would be the steps to take? If i were to find the exact model of CPU and manually set everything in BIOS for this CPU would it possibly force it to POST upon restarting the comp?

This computer ran stable for years playing all sorts of games without any problems.

MSI K72n-Delta nvidia Nforce2 Ultra chipset
BFG Nvidia Gforce 5500OC
1gig corsair Twinx dual channel kit PC3200
Sempron processor... I just can't remember what model

P.S.
The computer runs windows and I even play WoW with it in this gimped state. It just lags alot and the video crashes on me maybe once or twice a week. I never could get my friends card to work, I have my origional card in again.

I'm haivng problems with my new AMD Sempron 3000+ Processor. No matter how many of the drivers amd's driver download software recommends, which is usually those for the athlon 64, I still cant get my computer to identify the processor by name.

It still id's the processor as "AMDprocessor model unknown". With the old proc, it called it by its exact name. AMD Sempron 2600+. Also, aside from this, my system continuously gets that random restart that windows identifies as a "serious error". On top of that, anytime i put a disk in a drive to install a program, whether its a game or a dvd player program, the installer will get up to 5%, then the installer either crashes and takes irreperable damage, requiring a reformat and installation of windows. I mean of course the install shield wizard that XP uses, which is in part tied in the installer on the disk. Thus if the installer crashes installing bejewled twist, then i cant install power dvd, win xp service pack 3 or anything. And either after that happens or if it doesn't, the system experiences a random(or is it?) restart and pops up with the windows recovered from a serious error message.

The only two things i can assume is that either driver robot cannot find the proper driver because the word sempron is not incluyded in the procs name thus it assumes its an athlon xp64 and goes with that, or the processor itself is faulty. Because like I said, most other Semps ive used identified themselves to the system automatically. My system reads this thing like a side character in a sci-fi movie trying to decifer alien text because the main interpreter character isn't around. Thus the system remains stable for anywhere from 5 minutes then restarts to a half hour. Depending on what im having it do at the time.

Of course if i try to install anything, the system crashes within 5 seconds.

Any help would be greatly appriciated. I've already bought that driver robot program and it only made things worse by installing athlon drivers. also i tried e-mailing tech support already. Instead i got a reply stating that support@amd.com, does not exist.

Also if this helps, i know for certain that its not an outdated driver problem, because before the first of 7 reformats this has forced, all hardware drivers were installed and fully up to date, with all hardware performing at top level. So again, its either the system cant look for sempron drivers because it does not know to, or its a faulty processor.

Hi
I recently had a noisy hard drive on my desk top so purchased a new one, formatted the HD and reinstalled Windows XP Professional and then installed Windows Service Pack 2.
With the old hard drive in the system, I had USB2.0 connection for my external storage drives. Now with the re-instal, I get a warning message advising that "This device could perform faster if I had USB 2.0 etc...." The transfer of data is now very slow from external drive to computer and vice versa.
This desk top is used for editing digital images only, it does not have an internet connection (for fear of viruses), so I can't connect to update drivers etc. But I do have a laptop that is conencted for doing dowloads
I don't have a CD that may have come with the Sempron processor wen I bought it two years ago.
Any ideas would be appreciated !

I'm after some help/direction regarding a Winfast Socket 754 motherboard that I recently purchased privately. The model number is 760M02-GX-6LRS. The problem I'm having is that I can't get any action from the motherboard video wise. When I apply power everythings spins up to speed - DVD drive, hard drive and the CPU fan. But no video. Either through the onboard VGA port or through a AGP card. The motherboard doesn't even give me any "beeps" to let me know if anything is amiss. I've tried two CPUs - a Athlon 64 3200+ (ADA3200AIO4BX) and a Sempron 2600+. I've also tried different RAM setups and a different power supply. I've cleared the BIOS settings several times and have also replaced the battery. I'm now at a bit of a loss as to where to go next. Can any knowledgeable soul out there help me out?

Hi
I could use some help in solving a boot problem with my laptop. The laptop is 2 years old and was working but a little slow lately. Yesterday when I went to use it it seemed to power up fan hard drive dvd all ran but no video display not even post. I plugged another monitor in but still no display. I believe it to be either a hardware problem with the onboard video card or a virus/problem with the bios. So how can I flash the bios on a laptop without a removable chip?

System specs      Gateway 6436 laptop
Processor sempron 3500+
Motherboard R5482m AMD part number 105780

Additional info The lights all come on during the attempted boot. A control R gives a beep with each key stroke. Then all keys will make tone when pushed ( only letter keys) not number or f keys. None of the f keys have any effect. Tried totally powering down system. And removed all periferials no change

Thx
