I have an Athlon II 435 processor (ADX435WFGIBOX) and am looking for info on what the core voltage should be. The AMD page here gives all the basic info but omits the voltage.

Can anyone give me or direct me to the voltage details for this processor?

I've seen a spec on a non AMD site that says 0.875V - 1.425V, if this is correct, where in this range would you run the processor for normal (non - overclocking) use? i.e. What voltage would a mainboard select on 'auto'?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I haven't installed it on a motherboard yet. It's going on an ASUSM4A78T-E board with 4 Gb of DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) memory. I don't plan on trying to oc it or do anything fancy with it. I'm not a gamer. I have a couple of questions that I'd like some help on if possible.

1. How can you tell what wattage the cpu is? It says it a model HDZ965FBGMBOX

2. Is the cooler that comes with the cpu okay or should I get another one? This cooler has 4 heat pipes on it.

3. Is the thermal interface material that is on the heat sink okay or should I add more when I assemble it with the motherboard?

Sorry to be a dunce but I don't want to screw this up. I have to limited a budget to take chances.

I have an ASUS M4A79 Deluxe board and at the moment it is running an old Athlon x2 6000 cpu and this works well. I bought a Phenom II x4 955 3.2 GHz (Man Part #HDZ955FBGIBOX), installed it and can't get the system to POST, fans starts and I think it boots the BIOS then it hangs (no video signal). I have two questions which might be relevant to the problem :-

1) Does the M4A79 Deluxe support this processor?
2) Is a 620 watt psu (see my sig) up to running this rig?

I don't think the Phenom is broken as this is the second processor I have tried on this board (Novatech UK kindly replaced the first one).

To keep it short:
I have an AM2 motherboard (AM2 without the +)
and I am looking for a cpu upgrade.
I currently have an Athlon 64 3800+ EE,
and I would like to upgrade to a cpu with more cores.

I've seen the reviews about the ne Athlon II and Phenom II CPUs, and they look very promising, even though I am limited to a 95W tdp CPU.

There is 1 problem though:
Almost all motherboard manufacturers claim motherboard compatibility for their AM2 (without the +) motherboards with only 1 specific Phenom II,
and that is the Phenom II x3 "z715", part number HDZ715WCJ3DGI.
The problem with this cpu is that it does not seem to exist...
Even www.amdcompare.com does not state it; so even AMD itself does not seem to know this cpu.

So, is this cpu a Halloween creation, or is their more to it?

My AM2 motherboard is an MSI K9AG Neo2-Digital, and as with other motherboard manufacurers like ASUS etcetera, MSI lists this CPU as the ONLY Phenom II which they list as being supported on their AM2 mobos.

So, what is going on?
Is this cpu just a typo?
Very unlikely, as many mobo manufacturers state it on their website as the only Phenom II capable of running on their AM2 mobos (AM2 without the +).
Or was this cpu on AMD's roadmap some day, but did AMD decide later not to manufacture it?

It puzzles me, as this cpu is nowhere to be found on this planet,
and I'm looking to upgrade my cpu.
If my AM2 mobo will not support Phenom II of Athlon II CPUs, then i'll go for an Athlon 64 x2 (K8),
but I would like to know this as soon as possible, because the K8s are gettting harder to find.

I have Asus Corssair II Formula M/B with AMD Phenom X4 9950 and 4GB DDR2 Corsair Dominator.

I want to upgrade but I can't afford changing the whole thing (M/B, CPU, and RAM). I know that AM+ boards will accept AM3 CPUs but the opposite isn't true. So I am thinking of changing the CPU and getting something top of the line. By doing that I would
1. Accomplish the upgrade with minimum costs.
2. Get the max performance from the hardware I already have without OCing.
3. I still can OC the system and get the max out of the hardware.

According to the latest Bios update from Asus, it should work smoothly (they even up-ed he board to accept 16GB of RAM) but I have some bad experience long time ago with this kind of upgrades.

My question, has anyone tried to install a 955 or 965 on a Corssair II Formula?

if yes, any problems or issues I have to plan to avoid?

Can someone please advise which motherboard will support this cpu off the bat (without needing an old cpu to upgrade bios)?

The last computer I built also had a motherboard that did not support the CPU that I bought with it but luckily it used the cpu as "unknown processor" and allowed me to update the bios.

I don't want to overclock the poor thing, just want to bring it up to speed that is supported by the design.
The MOBO BIOS adjusts to any imaginable frequency for FSB and HTL, but the default is much slower than the rated speed of the processor.
Know where the information might be located? Can you give me a link?

I do get good temps and I'm not concerned about it overheating since I have loads of powerful fans, a good case, an ultra 120 extreme, and a thermalright vga cooler. Under load, nothing increases by more than 3 or 4c.

So, cpu temp at idle is currently 36c, core temp at idle 19c. Both go lower with all fans on full blast, but for now, that's what they are with fans at lowest. Core temp obviously wrong. It's lower than room ambient, and far lower than cpu temp. So what do you think my real core temp is?
