ok heres my problem i have a Emachines E625 Laptop, Ive done a fresh install of Windows XP and in device manager i have a yellow icon on SM Bus Controller, from serching google from what i understand its the chipset so i downloaded Catalyst control center and when installed my display went to lowest colour quality and could'nt change it back.

So a few things i would like to ask.

do i need the driver ?

could any1 find me a link to download the right driver or point me in the right direction.

The workaround is to use S1 sleep, which seems to work fine. I saw another post on NewEgg for an Asus board doing the same thing in Vista, so I assumed this is a driver or chipset issue and not a MB issue.

FYI: Media Center works fine until I try to play a video. This would imply this is some sort of issue with hardware acceleration or the DirectShow filter.

The drivers that AMD provides isnt "signed" and I dont know who to really blame. M$ who is forcing the driver to be signed in this early installation procedure or AMD for releasing Windows 7 RAID driver unsigned... I mean... how hard can it be?

I mailed Gigabyte since my mother board is the GA-790X-UD4 with a 9950BE and 8 Gb of ram on it and their answer was not so "solving"...

I purchased 4 Hitachi Deskstar 1Tb each. Want to run them in RAID 0 on my motherboard. Everything works fine, I making two arrays as I want to (2x2 RAID 0). It is until I reach the harddisk section on the Windows 7 x64 installation CD the problem starts... It wont accept the driver which I have on an USB-stick, says it is "unsigned". I´ve populated all of my SATA, 4 Hitachi 1 TB, one Samsung 500Gb and the last one is another Hitachi at 320Gb. The drivers I tryed with is the ones on your download section but also the ones on AMD´s site, no one works. I am quite familiar with softraid since I been using it for years now but never experienced a problem like this before... Please send me any advice on how to proceed or maybe another driver.

I am not given the possibility to make a choice here, Windows 7 is telling me that the driver isn´t signed and that´s the end of the installation. No HDD-drives show´s up in the drivers window and therefor it is of course impossible to continue installation....
Hoping for a solution.

Waiting their answer again and until then I took the opportunity to write here... Is there SOMEBODY out there running Windows 7 x64 in RAID 0 and if so, How did you manage to install it?

I got a question that unfortunately I found no answer at the moment.
I expect I will have one here.
I use a msi 790fx-gd70 for this.

I have set the ht link to 2600, and i set my memory to ddr3-1066.
If I increase the memory speed to 1333, i need to lower the ht link to 2400 to get it stable again.

On the 790fx pathways, the memory controller is on the cpu. So I guess that the cpu got a direct link to the memory.
So why it influence the memory speed?

where can i find the chip set driver?

the emachines web site only has the audio driver and the video driver.

my registry got corrupt and i could no longer boot windows and the recovery partition was also corrupt. so i tried to install an OEM XP. but its not recognizing almost any of my hardware, including the ethernet card.

so anyway i called to buy a recovery cd and they told me one is not available. obviously the chipset driver would be in the recovery parttion or cd. but since neither is available can someone please help me find this chip set driver?

I can do dma in and out of this VMIC card to/from main memory using it's dma engine no problem.

I have also a number of motherboards with nvidia chip sets with the same basic slot configuration. I have no problem with this using these MBs.

Why can't I do bus to bus dma reads out of this card in the 16x slot?

Spoke too soon. The RAID 1 rebuild finished fine but then I rebooted and it went critical again. Looking in the event log, it looks like Windows wrote a new signature on the drive which broke the mirror.

Going into the RAID ROM after bootup if I look at the Drive Assignments, one disk is set to LD 2-2 and the other disk is "Single Disk". Why wouldn't they both be part of the LD?

So, what is the proper way to do this? That is, add a drive back into the array? Documentation is very lacking. Or is there a good resource for this information somewhere that I just haven't found?

As for going to the new machine, I think I just need to set it up as RAID 1 and tell it to not initialize the drives. Is that all there is to it?

Also, later on down the road, if the motherboards crash or something, will it be possible to just use these drives as JBOD drives and be able to boot from them as single drives, or at least be able to get the data off of them as a single, non-RAID drive?

I'm making a clean installation on my machine with a M4A78T-E motherboard, containing the 790GX chipset. Im always a bit paranoid when it comes to a clean install. I alwayws follow the same ritual, and if only óne bug shows upp i start over again. So yes i'm a really sick perfectionist :-)

Now the m4a78t-e chipset thing is driving me crazy

On the Asus website i will find a 300 mb file (outdated) installer. It include a lot of extra , what i think is not needed.

It say's south bridge driver is included. But when i do a avarage installition i can mark what i want to install. And south bridge isn;t there?
