Hello,

I need to replace an AMD Sempron chip. The one that came out of the machine is SDA3200DI03BP. When I search on EBay, there are a bunch that have almost the same ID, except for the very last character. I see W, I, and others. Most of these are pretty inexpensive, but of course the "P" ones are the most expensive.

Does anyone know what the difference is with these? Are they compatible?

Thanks

Hello, I'm new here and need some help. A a friend just closed his shop and I acquired an "E-Machine with Windows 7 64 bit, an AMD Athlon II 160u processor and 2 gig of memory. I'm upgrading this new machine and have already replaced the 230 W power supply with a 500W unit. I have 2 gig of memory on the way which when installed will give me 4 gig total. My big problem what AMD processor will fit the AM2 socket? This machine is less than 11 months old and yet it has a AM2 socket with a Athlon II 160u in it. I want to run a 3.0 Gig or higher processor. Which one will work and is the pin configuration 938 or 940? When this is done I'll get a ATI video card as the computer came with a Blur-Ray burner and I like good games.

Can someone suggest a replacement upgrade for the Athlon II 160U that will work on my board. The board is a generic ASUS MA061l-D3 ATX.

Help........... Judy

Hi there, just bought a new sempron 140 and first thing was to try and unlock the second core. Enabled the ACC on my Asus M3A78-T and voila reboot with Athlon 4400x2. Post ok but cannot boot winxp all the way as it restarts just before the appearance of desktop (I just manage to see the mouse pointer). However, booting in safe mode and in Ubuntu using live cd works fine. I installed the AMD's dual core driver just in case but still the same problem. Found that it could work with underclocking the multiplier or bumping the voltage a bit with no luck as well. Please advise.

I recently got an old PC that has a AMD Sempron 140 chip. I upgraded the memory to DDR3 (just more of the same as what was in the original) but now the system is unstable. I don't think it's a virus, so it's the memory settings.

What is a conservative BIOS setting for this chip to deal with DDR3 memory, I think the memory is 1066 MHz Unganged Mode (2x 2GB sticks) but I have a feeling I need to half that to 535 MHz. I have an American MegaTrends Bios from around 2009/2010.

Sorry for being so vague; I can get more info if anybody responds to this. Just some conservative memory settings would be appreciated. it's set to "Auto" now but the system is unstable (reboots at odd times).

PS--I did run MemTest86 for a long time and it reports no errors in the new memory... but not sure if MemTest86 runs memory slower than the bios or what.

Greetings. I have a tower that has been good to me for over 3 years. But I would like to do a upgrade on the cpu chip. I built this computer as a barebone kit and I installed a AMD SEMPRON 3400 chip. The mother board is a MSI K9N4 ultra-f Socket AM2. Now I would like to upgrade the processor to a new chip. Can anyone advise me of what chip I should select so I do not wase my time or hard earned cash? I am satfied so far with the system, but I know I could probably get better results and a faster computer if I upgrade the ship.
Thanks
david52

I've got an older system I'm trying to use fully until I get the money to upgrade. Although it might be a while either way I've been trying to find out system requirements for various applications, games etc. I know when I bought the system, it boasted that it was 1.4 GHZ rated at 2.5 GHZ. And I seen this posted around in the past on other sites as well.

Although the system is basically a clone, and I don't have any specific model number nor did I get it from dell or anything, the processors is AMD 2500+ Codename: Palermo
and has done well with programs that needed faster processors in the past and present to the point of it being 2.5 GHZ or higher without overclocking.. But now it seems like it doesn't even mention it in my about computer anymore, and system requirements lab doesn't recognize it either. So what's the deal? Was there some kind of mistake in the past? I feel like I'm losing my mind a little here.. any help anyone can give me would be great thanks!

Ive already browsed these forums and checked my processor, but im in more of a....unique situation that makes it confusing (to me anyways). A couple of months ago windows wanted to update to Service Pack 2 (Vista Home Basic) 64bit version(Currently at Vista Home Basic Service Pack 1 32bit). I wouldve updated then but i was moving that day and the update said it would take a while and i didnt have time. Now that i have internet i want to download and install Service Pack 2 but the problem is...my computer specs doesnt say if it is a 64bit processor but according to my system info that it is 32bit so why would windows update to the 64bit version? Is there no 32bit version?

Processor specs
CPU = AMD Sempron 3400+ 1.8GHz
Instructions = x86, x86-64, MMX, 3DNow!, SSE, SSE2, SSE3

Thanks for the help

Hello fellow AMD enthusiasts! Long time AMD fan here. I have recently acquired an HP Compaq 6515b laptop. This came with Windows Vista on it, but since I replace the hard drive I installed Windows 7 Professional instead.

Only problem is, this laptop is VERY slow! It's got 1GB of RAM, and I'd like to max it out in the future; but right now the processing power is what's killing me. It's idling around 20% and it's always around 70-80% when I'm doing something; but seeing it pegged at 100% isn't uncommon.

I'd like to throw the most powerful processor in this thing that'll work. Battery life isn't important since it only runs off batteries for an hour as it is. HP is a freaking joke when it comes to support for these, all I could get from them is that I should buy a new laptop if I want to upgrade.

For good measure, here's a screenshot of my system info:
