When I start CW, the game's splash screen comes up, I click play and the game starts to load.  My screen goes completely black (normal since I'm playing in fullscreen mode) and then I get the Windows task bar and a blue line running up the far left part of my monitor.  Also, the crossfire icon does not display in the top right corner.  I didn't have this problem running CCC 9.6 but now that I am running CCC 9.8, I can't get CW to display in fullscreen properly. Cat AI is enabled and the crossfire box is checked.  I usually play Sins of a Solar Empire Entrenchment and have no problems whatsoever.  I get the xfire icon in the top right corner and it runs fine in fullscreen.  Now I know that crysis is coded porely, but I was able to run it fine in xfire with CCC 9.6 (GUP-Z showed both 4850s under 90-100% load).  Now GPU-Z is showing one 4850 under 99% load and the other 4850 is running at 45-50% load.  Any ideas?  I don't want to re-vert back to 9.6 because all my other games run perfectly (Sins, Mass Effect, World in Conflict).  I do have Crysis, but have yet to play that with the CCC 9.8 drivers.  I will try that tonight.  I will tell you that I am posting this without really researching/testing the problem with CW however I know many of you have much more knowledge than me so I thought I would throw this out to see if any of you have any suggestions.......thanks in advance.

I'm thinking that blue line is part of a window as in the game is trying to execute in windowed mode. Or I could be out to lunch

See if you can edit the video options to something smaller and fullscreen or windowed. Maybe that will let you into the game. You could also try dx9 or dx10 maybe one will work well enough to get you going.

Good luck!

Thanks HW! You're absolutely correct.....the game will try to load into fullscreen mode however it only does so partially (it seems as though CW can't make it's mind up as to loading in fullscreen or windows mode....really strange).  I've only played my games at my monitor's native resolution of 1900X1200; I never thought about lowering the resolution.  I'll give it a shot and will also try to run it in DX 9 mode (it sucks that I won't be able to get the graphic's eye candy in DX 9, lowering my resolution, and / or playing in windows mode, though).

It's also unfortunate that I was able to get the full benefits of crossfire eye-candy with CCC 9.6 (without any problems) and not CCC 9.8.  I'm thinking about reverting back to 9.6 although I really don't want to do that.

Thanks again for the suggestions.

Hi Steveo;  I'm a little hesitant to try the newer drivers.  Aren't they geared for the 5xxx generation cards?

Even though my gpu is a generation older, my favourite Cat version is 9.5. Right now I'm using 9.10 for the time being and there is ZERO improvement for my GPU and the games I play which include both Crysis games.

On Steveo's point, there is a 9.11 beta out there too. I'd definitely make a restore point first.

Trouble with full screen in DX10 mode is a known bug of the game. It has been patched out, so just install the latest patch.
