Alright, this has gone on for long enough, if you’re going to release a product at least make sure there’s something to back it up, not something that is completely issue riddled and unsupported. I didn’t pay a premium to be left out in the cold with a useless product and no further comments from anyone in the development community.
I’ve been patient up till now, but really, enough is enough.
Fix the issues, or recall the line. |

I have never gotten a mouse cursor issue. Have you tried these things?: 1) Download AMD's GPU Clock Utility. Manually set the clocks to 850 1200. I know when you start it up it will say 849.99 1200 or something like that, just write over it 850/1200 and hit "set clocks". This has the side effect of disabling PowerPlay which I found to have some problems in the current driver set. (You can experiment with overclocking later, when you get your system stable, mine currently stably runs at 950/1300 for example). 2) Download MSI Afterburner. Go to their website and download this utility. This will let you set voltages/custom fan speeds outside of the ATI Overdrive interface. Also has a pretty nice monitoring utility. 3) Update your driver to the latest and make sure upon bootup you do steps 1 and 2 again. |

I'm on the phone right now with AMD, "We are unaware of any mouse cursor size issues with these cards, this doesn't seem to be an issue"
More people with this issue need to call AMD support so that maybe we can get it fixed, seems my tickets that I submited didn't make them aware of it. Please take 10 minutes and call them. http://support.amd.com/us/contacts/Pages/GraphicsTechnicalSupport.aspx |

Something with your system maybe? I've been able to run games and video with no issues. TV tuner working fine. Records fine. I did do a fresh install of Win 7. But I didn't have a problem with the Win 7 RC with the suggested drivers for the 5870 either. |

This was an obnoxious problem for me with my 5850. It only occurred after running a 3d app and only one 1 of my 2 monitors at a time. I'm not at home so I can't test this, but I'm going to be really upset if it's still happening. There were about 5 posts on this issue alone here in the forums and I'm sure plenty of tickets submitted. This is not good for a top of the line product. |

Need some information here for those of you who are experiencing this issue. Go to the CCC and post your Device ID, BIOS version/part numbers, also the specific driver information (8.66.6-091006a-089804E for example in software panel of the CCC) Also want to know what your OS, application, and how you can reproduce the problem. |

Phenom I 9850 @ 2.8 4 gigs Kingston DDR2 800 MSI K9A2 Plat MOBO Sapphire 5850 2x Acer 22" lcds
I'd have the big cursor problem on one monitor or the other after leaving a 3d application.
My previous 4850 did not have this issue. |

My previous 4850 did not have this issue.
Can you give me the specific information I requested above? Not everyone is experiencing the problem and everyone has different configurations of hardware and software so giving the driver team a detailed way to reproduce the problem will give them a way to fix it. |

Also want to know what your OS, application, and how you can reproduce the problem.
Driver Packaging Version 8.661-090923a1-083743C-ATI Device ID 6898 BIOS Version 012.011.000.006
OS: Windows 7 Professional x64 Brand: Gigabyte Radeon 5870 Motherboard: GA-P55-UD4 Problems occure for example, going into LiveLeak.com, put on random video and put on fullscreen. Either your cursor goes big or the whole system crash. Watching 1080p video with VLC or any other video player will cause crash in full screen. No heat issue. Same hardware setup but with my 8800 Ultra ran without any problems. Hope it helps. |

One last thing gyller, have you tried the AMD GPU clock tool suggestion? Did that fix it? |

I just had it installed, tried a 720p video in VLC, worked for a whole minute, but I dont have time to do any further testing right now, gotta get to work! |

2.80 gigahertz Intel Core i7 860 Board: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. P55-UD3R Windows 7 Ultimate (x64) (build 7600) Driver Packaging Version 8.661-090923a1-083743C-ATI Primary Adapter
The AMD GPU Clock tool doesn't fully work, it causes other issues, after the clocks are moved to a higher speed, if you play a video that activates the UVD processor, the driver crashes outright. Edited: 10/22/2009 at 04:57 PM by nitra |

nitra, what do I have to do to cause the big mouse issue? Do I just run a video/game and it happens? Or it happens on boot up? |
