I finally uninstalled everything from the old drivers (some going back to 2007) and reinstalled 9.10 drivers. Downloaded just great. But, I STILL cannot find any answers for what appear to be 2 common problems: 1. black borders on the screen 2. CCC launches with no Overdrive tab as an option Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks again everyone Dell XPS 410, Vista 32, Q6600 OC 3 ghz, ATI 5870, Antec 650, DDR2 800 mhz |

Black borders just sounds like underscan.
Go to desktops and displays in your CCC and right click the small monitor icon in the bottom. Go to configure. You'll find the settings in there.

and the no Overdrive used to be from not having a 6pin and 8pin power plug in use. With only two 6pins overdrive wouldn't appear. ------------------------- Spigon: Phenom II 955BE @ 3.2, Arctic Freezer 64 Pro, Gigabyte GA-MA790FX-DS5, Asus 3870x2, ASUS Xonar D2X, 4 x 1gig OCZ2N1066SR2GK @800, Antec Truepower New 750, Antec 900 case. Thank you very much for responding. The slider is always greyed out so I can't adjust it. And just yesterday after taking my computer off sleep mode the screen turned white with some other colors mixed in. Then the blue screen of death came on and it said something about not detecting my display driver. Do you have any idea what's going on??? Thanks again !!! |

Does this mean I hooked something up incorrectly? I have an Antec 650 PSU, whichI thought was sufficient. I don't want to overclock, but liked the Overdrive option to check on the card's temp. Also, my monitor plugs directly into the card. It doesn't need an adapter, but can that be the cause of a problem as well? Thank you once more |

hmm, how can i insert a 8 pin connector to my videocard since it cleary has only 2 power cable entries, both are for 6 pin each, no 8 pins. So how could i OC my 5850 since i cannot change the cables? I cannot OC it, in CCC -> Ati overdrive, i see there only in grey, i cannot enable anything. What can be done? Thx |
