This Card is Counter Tested on another Windows XP system
This card is also Counter Tested on another Windows Vista System, and shares the same problems... My saphire X800XT platinum edition.. will not let me run any OpenGL programs with catalyst drivers 7.2 to 7.9 for Vista 7.10 Crashes rundll32 upon installation, however afterwards it will run fine, but OpenGL programs has no hardware Acceleration.. An Accelration that is there on Windows XP systems... 7.10 Crashes any OpenGL based program upon Exit of this program 7.1 also Crashes any OpenGL based program Upon exit of this program.. however it does not crash rundll32 upon installation... but again it seems it has no hardware acceleration since it runs very poorly.. I´m talking 20 polygon strong models here with textures, that are of the lowest polygon sized models i have tested... My system is a 2.4 ghz Intel P4 Motherboard PE845 MAX 3 1.5 gb DDR3 ram OS. Windows Vista Ultimate... Chipset drivers are latest install from intel.. i been trough all the ticketing.... in customer care¨ getting the auto response mail, and waiting days for response.. in theire latest reply, they asked for me to go here and post this... It is very important to me to use these OpenGL programs... and i would expect OpenGL to work, when DirectX does.. and downgrading to windows XP pro is not an option... so does anybody here got any solution to this, that does not begin with Reinstall OS, since i allready did that... Delete ATI drivers, since i allready did that, and the Hardware acceleration is none existant., just as in if i had installed catalyst 7.1 or 7.10 Edit... I have just been asked to send an info file of my system so they may resolve the issue... which i have done... now waiting to see if it gets fixed in 7.11 or mayhaps 7.12 for vista 32 bit ------------------------- P4 2.8 ghz MSI 845PE Max2-FISR (Gb LAN, IEEE1394, SATA RAID) 1.5 GB DDR RAM Cmedia 5.1 ATI X800 XT Platinum Edition (HIS Excalibur) 256 MB DDR3 Edited: 11/07/2007 at 10:14 AM by Frame |

Got a response in which Customer care asked me which OpenGL programs does not work..
I replied: ALL OPENGL programs does not work.. Something that makes me wonder,.,, Do they even read what i write ?, since i allready stated that... I submitted a OpenGL benchmark logfile for them to read... a Screenshot, and the OpenGL benchmark program.. So now its back to waiting... I wonder if this is going to be fixed, its been 4 months now since i submitted the Error reports to begin with, that is since i got Windows Vista Again: i tried all Version catalyst 7.1 to 7.10.. None of these will work With OpenGL. 7.1 and 7.10 does also NOT install the ATI OpenGL driver... Instead the Windows Default OpenGL driver is used which means Hardware Acceleration is none existant... ------------------------- P4 2.8 ghz MSI 845PE Max2-FISR (Gb LAN, IEEE1394, SATA RAID) 1.5 GB DDR RAM Cmedia 5.1 ATI X800 XT Platinum Edition (HIS Excalibur) 256 MB DDR3 |

Been trying to figure this problem out more carefully
seems in the event log i´m getting this error just before the launch of any OpenGL program "CRT invalid display type" does anybody know what this is ? exactly ------------------------- P4 2.8 ghz MSI 845PE Max2-FISR (Gb LAN, IEEE1394, SATA RAID) 1.5 GB DDR RAM Cmedia 5.1 ATI X800 XT Platinum Edition (HIS Excalibur) 256 MB DDR3 |

My ticket is still Work in Progress.... ------------------------- P4 2.8 ghz MSI 845PE Max2-FISR (Gb LAN, IEEE1394, SATA RAID) 1.5 GB DDR RAM Cmedia 5.1 ATI X800 XT Platinum Edition (HIS Excalibur) 256 MB DDR3 |

The 7.11 drivers has not solved my problems either
The problem persists... jubieee,, off to wait for two months for the release of a new driver, and "HOPING" it works... ffs... it has only been 11 months since the release of Vista, and they have still not solved the OpenGL problem... Games like Quake 4 do NOT work because it uses OpenGL, and it downright advises me to install the Driver from my Graphic Card Vendor which is ATI... because i seems to the game installer that i do not have it installed... From the system even Viewer... Program with error Quake4.exe, version 1.4.2.0, timestamp 0x4672ce50, module with error ogldrv.dll, version 6.0.6000.16386, timestamp 0x4549bd91, exceptioncode 0xc0000005, casting with error 0x0001cc87, proces-id 0xd40, program starttime 0x01c82c7b626f3a3c. so this is: not so great work... ATI... Hopes though you other ppl With AGP problems have had your issues resolved... ------------------------- P4 2.8 ghz MSI 845PE Max2-FISR (Gb LAN, IEEE1394, SATA RAID) 1.5 GB DDR RAM Cmedia 5.1 ATI X800 XT Platinum Edition (HIS Excalibur) 256 MB DDR3 Edited: 11/21/2007 at 03:32 PM by Frame |

CRT invalid display type:
http://support.ati.com/ics/sup...edge&questionID=29385 I get this as well, this leads to screen refresh problems. Installing an older version of catalyst is no solution! Cheers... |

AMDAlexS: Any luck with your issue? Im in the same boat.

Nope.
Have logged the issue twice in ATI support forums, suggest you and others do the same so they can recognise the issue. Have never got a response. In fact they do recognise the issue (see knowledge base link I posted above), and their "solution" is to install older drivers (i.e. no solution). It's time they backpeddled as it does hold some performance problems with screen mode changes it seems. If you google there are other larger posts like this, there are a number of people in the same boat. ta |
