i recently just swapped my two 4850's for two 3870X2's using an msi K9A2 mobo and a 1200watt psu but here's my prob.  One card werks fantastic!  the other card when i in stalled it to run both of these baddies in crossfire i get a crossfirex diagnostic message, "the crossfirex internal bridge interconnects linking your crossfire x graphics cards are not properly connected.  Both bridge interconnects must be attached.   now ive narrowed it down to the one card thats causing the problem.   so here's my question. do i just take the plastic shell off of the card and replug in some internal bridge on the card or do i light it on fire and do a little dance around it

i only have two 3870X2's.  one of the cards apparently is messed up or something.  i get a crossfire diagnosis on CCC that sez "internal crossfirex bridge is not connected....thats internal."  so im wondering if inside the card itself if there is an "internal bridge" that is repairable.  never ran into this problem before.  i dont think its talking about the crossfire ribbon that i think you are refering too.

With the 3870x2's there is only 1 crossfire interconnect which does require one CROSSFIRE internal bridge connector and with the current drivers there should be no issue. If they are not crossfiring its most likely a software driver issue which could be fixed with a clean install of the OS. Or if its a hardware issue then that is down to the motherboard and its capabilities. Only cards that had issues was the 3870x2's with 4-DVI that got fixed in the 9.x drivers that were addressed thankfully to the Sapphire 4850x'2 that had this rare 4-dvi connectors. But it would still require quite a beefy PSU with some serious AMPS on the 12+v rails as WATTS are meaningless.
