Dear all,

I have a flickering texture problem with GTA 4, also known as Z-Fighting. Buildings at a distance and cars have black flickering textures over them like this:

I have installed the latest Catalyst drivers, and used DriverSweeper. Further I have no problems with GTA 4 which runs fine even on my 2600PRO (512 MB). (Can't wait till my HD4850 arrives!.)  Does anybody know a solution for this problem, or is this the first time this problem is brough forth? I have tried the mipmap suggestion by Rockstar which did not work. Also turning off crosefire did not work.

My Specs:

Q6600 (standaard no OC)

4 GB

ATI Pro 2600 (512 MB) 8.12 installed

Windows Vista 32 bit

Yeah... This problem is critical. I've heard that this bug is also affecting 36xx series. Just hoping AMD won't abandon us, low-end users, and release a hotfix soon.

I'm using Radeon HD2600XT on XP 32bit and got this kind of bug too.

Perhaps we should fill out a feedback form to let the catalyst crew know about this thing.

Well here's the link : http://support.ati.com/ics/survey/survey.asp?deptID=894&surveyID=486&type=web

Catalyst 8.11 and 8.12 give the same result for me. Perhaps this problem (z-fighting, texture flickering, or texture tearing; whatever you may call) only affects Radeon series x6xx (like 2600, 3650, or even 4670).

Some users of AMD/ATi's competitor graphic card also report some tearing. I've tried the game on my friends computer with that kind of graphic card as well, and indeed there's some tearing but at least it's not noticeable unless you look very carefully. Not sure what it looks like on 48xx series ..

Just received email that my 4850 is shipped so will arive in 2 working days. Hope that the problem is gone with that card. Will let you all know. Then we know if it's a HX6XX problem or the problem is wider/deeper

I used ofiicial 8.11 and 8.12. But does sapphire driver differs from the official one? Maybe I'll try to install it.

Solved with my new 4850 so it is defently a x6xx problem. Strange since the chip from the 46xx has more in common with the 48xx then with the 26xx
