Hello everyone, I have a improved hotfix to try out, and if it works I will make it available to the public. However I need someone to test it first to make sure it works on a Crossfired setup of someone who was previously having the BSOD issue with the 8.12 drivers. If you are a candidate then PM me and I will give you a link to the file to download Obviously this file is different to the ones which have been posted on the official site. ------------------------- Game.AMD Administrator |

Hi Spyre, Is there a hotfix for the ATIRadeon HD4870X2 "incompatible display adapter has been disabled" issue? Also how does one tell if the Stream api has been installed? Asus AMD M3A32-MVP Deluxe/WiFi-AP(BIOS 1406), AMD Phenom Quad-Core 9850 B.E. cpu, Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800MHz (4 X 2GB), Coolermaster Real Power M1000 psu, Sapphire ATI Radeon HD4870X2 2GB card, Vista x64 Ultimate(SP1) with latest patches ------------------------- AMD 790FX motherboard, AMD Phenom Quad-Core 9850BE CPU,Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800MHz (8GB), Seagate Barracuda HDD 500GB (x2), Asus DRW-2014LT DVD writer, Antec P182 Chassis, Cooler Master Real Power M1000 PSU, Sapphire Radeon HD4870X2 2GB Card(Catalyst 9.11), Creative X-Fi Platinum Sound Card, Win 7 x64 Ultimate RTM |

If you have more than 4GB of RAM (as you do) then this hotfix wont do anything unfortunately. AMD normally test with 4GB of RAM as its the most common config that people use so this bug sneaked through, I myself only have 4GB of RAM so I didnt notice any problems. Hopefully there will be another hotfix to address that issue but it may have to wait for the 9.1 drivers. ------------------------- Game.AMD Administrator |

Thanks. Is that not an oversight that must not occur at all? Smacks of pressure to get the driver released a bit too soon. I also noticed that some of the motherboard drivers also had issues installing. Is this a theme? In this day and age with the growing numbers of machines with large amounts of memory I would surely make sure that large memory sizes do not cripple a driver.
This is most unfortunate. I was looking forward to installing the stream api on my machine for some development testing. ATI just gave the guys who were backing CUDA in our department fuel for the fire. I hope you fix this silly issue as I don't want to be buying a nvidia graphics card any time soon. No answer to my second question? Thanks again spyre. Thanks for the prompt response. P.S. I would gladly test pre-release versions of 9.1 to make sure they work with at least 8GB of memory. ------------------------- AMD 790FX motherboard, AMD Phenom Quad-Core 9850BE CPU,Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800MHz (8GB), Seagate Barracuda HDD 500GB (x2), Asus DRW-2014LT DVD writer, Antec P182 Chassis, Cooler Master Real Power M1000 PSU, Sapphire Radeon HD4870X2 2GB Card(Catalyst 9.11), Creative X-Fi Platinum Sound Card, Win 7 x64 Ultimate RTM |

So is having over 4GB part of the problem? I'd have offered otherwise... ------------------------- Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-DS4H BIOS rev. The new version of the Folding at home client is Stream enabled so thats one way to check but basically if the drivers are installed then Stream will be present. The new version of the AVIVO Transcoder is also Stream enabled but that only works on 32Bit OS's at the moment. Photoshop CS4 also has acceleration with the 8.12 drivers and 32bit and 64bit OS's but you need a registry tweak for XP 64 since photoshop app disables acceleration on that OS by default. I can't send you any future drivers since you aren't under NDA etc. ------------------------- Game.AMD Administrator |

So is having over 4GB part of the problem? I'd have offered otherwise... Seems so. ------------------------- AMD 790FX motherboard, AMD Phenom Quad-Core 9850BE CPU,Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800MHz (8GB), Seagate Barracuda HDD 500GB (x2), Asus DRW-2014LT DVD writer, Antec P182 Chassis, Cooler Master Real Power M1000 PSU, Sapphire Radeon HD4870X2 2GB Card(Catalyst 9.11), Creative X-Fi Platinum Sound Card, Win 7 x64 Ultimate RTM |

Could you make sure that testing for successful operation of the driver for more than 4gb of memory is included on the testing QA sheet? That would be great and please include that it is fixed in the release notes if it is.
I was just kidding about the 9.1 testing. ------------------------- AMD 790FX motherboard, AMD Phenom Quad-Core 9850BE CPU,Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800MHz (8GB), Seagate Barracuda HDD 500GB (x2), Asus DRW-2014LT DVD writer, Antec P182 Chassis, Cooler Master Real Power M1000 PSU, Sapphire Radeon HD4870X2 2GB Card(Catalyst 9.11), Creative X-Fi Platinum Sound Card, Win 7 x64 Ultimate RTM |

i think you should say <3.2GB!
but this isn't cool old 3dfx, where it was about technical breakthroughs and research this game is about money, where big companys fight each other, with money(stock-market) and advertising.... and the biggest company refuses to write proper 64bit os's......... so sad
and there are really people, who only want to go in the internetz and dont want to play, they just dont need a dual core for their purposes..... but there are really people who buy this crap machines with their crcap os's, though they could do their internetz and email also on a celeron with linux... capitalism isn't right and we are all trapped ------------------------- Q9550@400mhz | gigabyte x38-dq6 | 4x1gb GEIL ddr2 | 2x powercolor 4850 play! 512mb | 2x750gb raid0 | VISTA X64 HP | microstuttery cat8.10 |

The hotfix has been updated with the files I was testing now, so maybe people will have better luck than the guinea pigs I asked so far. I do know things are still being worked on but with Christmas coming up I am not sure when exactly it would be worked out. ------------------------- Game.AMD Administrator |

Could you provide a link to the updated one? The hotfix page says it was last modified on the 18th and you posted on the 19th. I downloaded the hotfix yesterday and it still BSOD'd on me so I'm guessing I don't have the latest one.
