No offense taken.

I too consider current ATI's hardware ahead of nVidia's. But what matters is the result of both the hardware and software. And considering the result, ATI is behind. My old GeForce 6600 GT was released 4 years earlier than my HD3650 and still performs better for OpenGL games. How can that be?

The game Serious Sam 2 is about 2.6 times faster on an ATI HD3650 than on a nVidia 6600 GT in DirectX mode. But in OpenGL mode the HD3650 doesn't even get 80 % of what a 6600 GT delivers. And it lags a lot. This is an example of what the hardware can do, but the software doesn't let!

So I still prefer nVidia. At least it works and isn't limited by incompetent software.

other than the high gpu temperatures, their hardware is good, they are just lacking in the software side

good hardware means very little if the drivers are holding the hardware back

ATI better fix their openGL , in both software and in hardware , because later openCL and openGL will work mostly as one , and comes dx11 .

Hi.

Decided to update the system specs on my signature, to reflect the 0 MB OpenGL VRAM.

Regards.
