Hello people;

Yesterday Need for Speed Shift was released and I was reading through web many people complaining about performance of ATI/AMD cards in this game compared to nVidia cards. Do we need a hotfix for Catalyst 9.9?

I'd love to heard about yours performance in this game. Here with a Powercolor 4870-512MB I'm getting 30~40 FPS with many cars on track and 50~60 alone @ 1280x1024 and video settings all maxed out. It's noticeable the poor performance, compromising the gameplay, and the nVidia guys are enjoying this game flawlessly.

Waiting for a fix.

Here are my specs
Phenom II 720 3.2 GHz
2x2gb OCZ platinum ddr2 1066
2x 512mb visiontek hd 3850 in crossfire (catalyst 9.9)
running at 1920X1080 (also tried lower res without much help)

when I turn off crossfire, my max frames drop a little, but the game play is smoother. I say smoother though, not as smooth as it should be though. There are micro stutters that I can live with to play the game, but is still annoying. My biggest gripe is that crossfire doesn't work. Crossfire has been out for quite some time. multi gpu programming should not be an issue for a new title, especially a new anticipated one such as this.

On a bit of a side note; vsync creates an input lag for my controller. Much like dead space on pc if any of you have played it. Turning it off quickly eliminates the issue though.

Please release a patch EA. Either that or an ATI hotfix.

I've got similar issues, while even my laptop runs Shift better than my pc:

Intel C2Q 9450 @ Stock  / 3,4ghz OC (Didn't change at all, def not a CPU problem)
8 gigs of ddr2 1066
Radeon 4870 512megs @ stock

Latest drivers installed.

Whereas my laptop:

AMD Athlon X2 sumthinsumthin 1,9ghz
4gb ddr2 800
Nvidia 9600M

I cannot imagine a company as big as EA not to test this game on these ATI cards, as it seems to span across different ranges of them aswell. I'm not sure what can be done about this.

We are not alone.

Q6700, 4850 crossfire grid > 40 fps, shift <22 fps.

I read on many forums, many problems. I hope AMD can save the game of the year (read my game of the year).

Its indeed interesting, especially since not everyone is having problems with it. I've also seen alot of people complaining about crashes with 9.9 in Shift, whereas older versions work.

@ Mauricetgol:

40 fps in Grid? Thats not a lot tbh... what insane settings are you running it on? Runs like a dream on my single 4870, 1920x1200.

Add me to the list, I have a hd3870x2 + 3870 in CF, 6 gigs of ram, and a qx6700 @ 3.5ghz. Performance is so bad I get lag at 1280x720... It's super bad at 1920x1080 which is my monitor's res.

100+ fps in Grid @ 1080p w/ 8xMSAA

20-30 fps in NFS:S max settings

edit just ran fraps...

NFS:S peeks @ 60 (vsync) dips as low as 21.

GRiD peeks at 130+, dips as low as 85.

It's good to notice that I'm not alone at all.

My whole specs are E8400@stock, 4GB@800 Corsair, 4870-512Mb@stock, Windows 7 RC and Catalyst 9.9.

GRID runs great here, all maxed settings @ 1280x1024 vsync'ed @ 60FPS.

It's definitely a driver issue, waiting for AMD fix.

Sorry for bad english, I'm brazilian.

I am also having poor performance in the game. My system is: Intel Core 2 Duo E 6600, 4GB ram 800 MHz, Sapphire Radeon 4870 512 GDDR5 and Windows 7 32 Bit. I play on High settings with 2x antialiasing and 4x anisotropic filter on 1680 x 1050. In a map with no cars my usual frames are about 30 - 40. On races with other cars i get about 25 and sometimes less than 20. The thing is that no matter what i do with the settings the results are the same. Are we sure this is an Ati issue and not Windows 7...?

I'm having the exact same issue with an HD4670, Phenom x3 8450 @2.1Ghz, 4GB RAM, Win7 x64.

I can run GRID at full settings 1360x768 AAx2 completly smooth, but for this game I have to turn a lot of settings down to get a playable frame rate, and still I'm having some framedrops (less than 15 fps) in certain parts of certaing tracks.

Unplayable... something like 10-20fps.

My PC: C2Q 9300, 4GB RAM, HD4890, Win 7 x64

But when I tried with my old Geforce 8800GTS 512MB, no problems...

So it seems like ATI issue, or EA, who knows?
