Hello AMD/ATi Comunity, Since i upgraded my system to Windows 7 i cant find the issue that is producing constant driver crashes on every single 3D application. It doesnt matter if i am playing CS:S, ArmA II, Broderlands or some other game. Also if i am working with Photoshop the drivers keep crashing all the time. Even on Desktop its crashing sometimes and now i am really sick of that cause these driver crashes are always crashing the game/app too... I've tried every single catalyst since beta drivers 9.3 for Win7 but I got no success at all. With full driver cleanup, clean install of Win7 and normal uninstall of drivers. Now i am asking here if somebody got the same problem like me and also maybe someone got a solution for this. Greetings, 3agle PS: My specs are: Intel C2Q 9550 @ 3GHz 4 x 1GB Kingston HyperX RAM Asus P5Q Pro Turbo Sapphire Radeon HD 4870 1GB Edited: 10/31/2009 at 03:20 PM by Sgt3agle3ye |

A few questions: What do you mean by driver crash? Blue screen? Atikmdag.sys? Do you have the official bios fix for the card? Some Sapphire 4870 cards must have it in order to work correctly. Do you have problems with playing HD videos as well? ------------------------- CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 810 | RAM: Kingmax 4GB DDR2 800 | MoBo: MSI K9A2 CF | GPU: Sapphire HD 4850 512MB | PSU: PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Quad | OS: W7 Pro x64 RTM |

1.) With driver crash i mean: Screen freezes, goes black, screen comes back and driver got recoverd 2.) I dont know anything about a BIOS fix, mby you can give me a link on that? 3.) i'm not watching HD Movies, so dont know ^^ |

There used to be a sticky thread about this on the Sapphire forum, but it looks like they removed it. Their forum search doesn't work at all, so I cannot find it. You should join them (www.vgaforum.com) and ask there. Also check out this thread. ------------------------- CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 810 | RAM: Kingmax 4GB DDR2 800 | MoBo: MSI K9A2 CF | GPU: Sapphire HD 4850 512MB | PSU: PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Quad | OS: W7 Pro x64 RTM |

Well i found smth about that BIOS Update ... but its only for 512MB Cards and not for the 1GB version and about the thread ... is it really possbile that my GFX is switching core speeds all the time while playing? i cant believe that :X but i will give it a try PS: i would kinda suck if i have to create a profile for every game i got :-/ |

I am having this same problem. Just upgraded to Windows 7, installed Catalyst 9.10 and now every once in awhile the driver crashes, screen goes black, and I have to restart. It happens randomly, not just one thing causes it. I haven't even played a game yet, this is happening on the desktop, browsing the internet, etc.
I guess I should add: Win7 64 bit Asus 4870 1gb Dark Knight Phenom II 955 BE Asus M4A79XTD EVO |

Try to turn off OpenGL in Photoshop if you can. OpenGL is killing Revit 2009 in same manner. |
