I have some issue with my new Sapphire HD 7870 OC 2gb.

Sometime, only when I play, the system crashes with black screen and audio looping and I have to reset my PC to restart windows. I try use catalyst 12.3, 12.4 and 12.6beta. In windows registry event report this critical error: "Kernel-Power ID event:41 category:63".

I play also for 2-3 days without crash, but sometimes the issue come back. What can I do?

My motherboar is an asrock z77 extreme6 and PSU is a Coolmaster silent pro 600W.

I have performed 2 complete cycles of memetest86+ to test the ram and have report 0 errors.

Help me please!!!!!!

A Google search for that error has lots of entries...surprisingly, most have Nvidia cards. I don't believe this is going to be a graphics problem...most likely heat or power supply.

You think that the problem can be my PSU?

In other forums told me that my Coolmaster silent pro 600W it's ok for my configuration.

Sounds like the PSU to me too. Use the monitoring software which came with your motherboard to record the 12v voltage under load heavy load, anything below 12.0v is a potential cause, if it reads less than 11.9 you need to replace it with a name brand unit ASAP.

Also, make sure you have the power plan set to performance...and in the advanced settings check all the possible settings, especially 'power management' and 'pci express'. Make sure your sound device is updated...have you visited Windows update? You didn't furnish much info about your computer...read the "please read before posting". If you have a Intel processor, go here and check for updates  http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx

Thanks for answer. The drivers of my device are all updated and also Windoid updated. I change power plant to performance; before is set on balanced.

I have montioring the voltage of 12V vith the software of Asrock during a game session and the values are between 12.2V and 12.4V.

I perform a ram test with memetest86+ (about 4h) and haven't any error.

My configuration is:

Asrock z77 extreme6 - Intel core i5 3570k - 16GB (2x8GB) Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz - Hd Samsung 830 SSD 128GB+ 500GB Western Digital - PSU Coolmaster silent pro 600W - Audio card Asus Xonar DSX PCI-E (the audio integrated is disable by bios).

Update the firmware for your SSD  http://www.anandtech.com/show/5460/samsung-updates-the-firmware-of-ssd-830-series-fixes-bsod-issue

Check Intel for updates, including bios.

Note: This is why reading the "Please read before posting" is so important. Without the info...nobody...can give a educated guess as to what the problem could be. Not knowing you had that SSD (which is a known issue) we could go round and round for days.( Jeez...I hope this fixes it lol)

Have you solved it yet? because I'm experiencing this as well and so are other 7870 users. Just type in 7870 black screen and there will be many results.

NO it's not your PSU... I'm using FSP 600W Aurum 80+ GOLD and I'm experiencing this too. and yes my BIOS is updated and all of my drivers (sound,GPU,Game). tried it from 12.3 to 12.7 beta and it still crash.

all parts of my PC are NEW. using ORIG game and OS.

I have returned my card to the shop I bought it in and it was tested by the distibutor and they can't find anything wrong with the card.

It passed GPU benchmarks, memory test, prime95...

it was just returned to me w/o any fix.

I'm still having problems with the the 7870.

I haven't experienced crash when only using the integrated graphics.

obviously the problem is with the 7870.
