I found that Disable 2D Clocks in my HIS iTurbo utility quells the problem somewhat.  In Skyrim, as long as I am indoors it's not bad, outdoors still a lot of flickering.

The problem actually only exist outdoors.

Ok here's my latest update guys.

I went to RMA my card today , have to wait a month or two , hopefully they can fix it !

Thing is , i had my old HD 5830 with 12.10 Driver.

So far,  i don't notice anymore flickerings on games ( i can't confirm have to get back to this )

My best news is , in Skyrim , whether is outdoors / indoors , 0 flicker ! Totally fix !

Which means.....its either Driver problem / the HD 7870 problem / Driver can't work well with HD 7870 card yet =/

Also i was comparing my old GPU-Z Log and my new one ( Old - 7870 , New - 5830 ) , i notice something , but maybe this is how all new GPU are.

But my HD 5830 , Voltage readings are totally stable , only 12.10 - 12.80+ volt up and down.

But as i recall , my HD 7870 , it can go up to over 24 Volt ! and sometimes low as -6 Volt !

I wonder are all new cards like so ??

From what i know and " feel " the HD 7870 have some serious problems !

Could be my imagination but after putting back the  HD 5830 , i find my odler card while gaming is even smoother than the powerful HD 7870

I can't believe i spent over 300 $ for this kind of BS !

Really guys , time to go to Nvidia side lol ??

If you use incorrect software for measuring voltages they may return incorrect values. So dont care much about crazy voltages.

Also since the flickers shows only in DX9 games and I have never seen any trouble on DX10 or higher games i believe its only software problem.

= = " can the driver be any older ??

But i have confirm now with 12.10 , on my old Sapphire HD 5830 , 0 flickering ! In ANY GAMES , unlike my HD 7870 zz , i guess either is really Software problem / BIG FAILURE WITH THEIR HD 7000 series !

Even though its a big improvement in performance from 6000 series but to suffer all this kind of problems ? I don't find it worth it neither the money we paid for , hope its getting fix right after i get back my HD 7870.

Days goes by even my friends who using AMD cards are planning to go to Nvidia as i mentioned many times.

Here are screenshots with flickering from Witcher 2

Some textures are rendered transparent, black, or corrupted. The corruption never affected the game character...

Here to report about my HD5830 on Witcher2 , i played it for an hour or so (since from tutorial till first mission) , no flicker or anything.

Works fine. But low FPS , on such an old card. Around 30 - 60 fps ( not maxed out ) but the game have a weird movement in combat / walking  , this is because of the game's engine , not graphical problem

You just killed me, as I am also downloading this game as I type...  Will have to try out an old driver.  This is such bs, I agree with Ghost.  Regret spending $300 on this card...

Next official release should be Catalyst 12.12, so I expect it will be released this month. Within two weeks maybe.

Catalyst 12.11 Beta 11
No Caps
Default driver settings

Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition:
A) Random black flicker in Flotsam forest: Not Observed
B) Repeatable flicker visible on Witcher's hair: PRESENT
(note: also visible on other video cards, may not be connected with this issue)

Skyrim:
A) Random black flicker all around the land: Not Observed
B) Repeatable flicker visible on human character skin during close up/fading: PRESENT

Civilization 4:
A) Random black flicker all around: PRESENT, but reduced.

Definitely its better...

Edit:

Skyrim
I stand on the center of the waterfall in Ivarstead and wait for few minutes. The game flickered after 5-10 minutes after, but only ONCE.

Civilization 4
This game shows big persistence of this bug. It took more than 30 minutes of frantic gameplay, but then it showed up, blinked on me few times and became invisible for another long time period.

Witcher 2
Still flawless after many attempts.

I am starting to believe that even when those flickers look exactly same they have different source in DX9. In means like - once failed texturing, once failed Anisotropy...

Games like:

Test Drive Unlimitted 2:   VERY niticable flickering

Counter Strike:Global Offensive:  less noticable, still present.

Audiosurf: Very rare, but still present

Ive had this issue on 12.10 and 12.11 Betas.

Quoting my previous reply to this thread.

I can verify that my flickering in CS Global Offensive and Audiosurf has been eliminated. I have not yet tested Test Drive, but im optimistic that this problem is as good as fixed.

So i definitely can recommend the latest driver release 12.11 Beta11 to those with this problem!
